Korean Scientists Clone Wolves

From Yonhap:

A South Korean research team claimed Monday it has created the world’s first cloned wolves in October 2005, and that the animals have been growing up without any problems.  The team, led by Lee Byeong-chun and Shin Nam-sik, veterinary professors at Seoul National University, said the two cloned female wolves, named Snuwolf and Snuwolffy, were born on Oct. 18 and Oct. 26, 2005.

The breakthrough came three months after the team announced it succeeded in cloning three female dogs — Bona, Peace and Hope. The team’s lead scientist, Lee, was a key member of the team led by disgraced scientist Hwang Woo-suk, which produced the world’s first cloned dog, Snuppy, a male, in April 2005.

Both Hwang and Lee have been on trial following the discovery that their research papers on human stem cells were found to be fabricated. Their works on dog cloning, however, were confirmed genuine and successful.

How come I have this feeling we haven’t seen the last of Dr. Hwang Woo-suk?Â

Werewolf? Therewolf. (loved that movie)

Anyway, I really don't know why this is news. Korea has been leading the world in cloning for decades (handbags, sports shoes, watches, software, the list is almost endless).

This sounds awfully familiar. Didn't some cloner in Korea cry wolf once before?

Dogs and wolves are basically genetically the same. (all dogs are direct domesticated decendants of wolves) So this is like saying "I cooked a grilled cheese sandwich on white bread." then 2 years later saying "I cooked a grilled cheese sandwich on rye, look how advanced I am." If they clone every breed of dog on earth, it still just another dog. I'm not "poo-pooing" their science on this, just their endless need for recognition.

Besides, Jerry Chickenhead's comments are much funnier than mine.

Its probably more difficult and more expensive to clone dogs to eat than it is to breed dogs to eat.

stem cell

Stem cells in an organism of the adult person are developed by a bone brain. It is their basic source, but it is far not the unique. Also stem cells are found out and in a fatty fabric, a skin, muscles, a liver, lungs, an eye retina, practically in all bodies and organism fabrics. They provide restoration of the damaged sites of bodies and fabrics.
