USFK Crime Archive

Often I hear people say that they feel that there are more incidents involving US soldiers and Korean nationals than in the past. I have long demonstrated that overall the number of incidents is down compared to just ten years ago and that GI crimes in Korea are much less per capita than the general Korean population especially sex crimes. The occassional spike still does happen that draws attention to USFK, but overall the numbers remain low. So what causes this perception of out of control GIs to continue to resonate? It is the Korean media that treats every GI incident as being worthy of front page news coverage while ignoring similar crimes committed by Koreans. In the past this wasn’t the case but it is now which has created this perception of out of control GIs.

In order to help people see the types of crime committed and judge for themselves the discipline level of USFK personnel I am currently building an archive of USFK crime incidents for people to refer to. My overall goal is that I hope to expand this to include crimes against USFK personnel by Koreans along with crimes against expats and foreigners. This is still a work in progress and if anyone has any incidents they would like to add or any corrections that need to be made please leave a comment. Thanks for reading.

Let's see here so many problems too much crap. I have a great answer to all of these problems. Bring the troops back home and, Korea, defend your own country. Tired off hearing about laws broken by GI'S that the Koreans do not follow them selves. No American GI has a fair trial in Korea, If you are accused you are Guilty no questions asked,. The Korean government will back up each other all the way to the top, GI'S have a lawyer who is Korean and works for Korea go figure what are the chances. Taxi drivers stealing money, changing fairs to make cash for them selves, do it in America and get shot or beat. But in America it won't happen because they know it will happen.and as far as the prostitution problem, KNP get off you lazy Fuc*in ass and do your job. If the KNP worked with GI'S and tried to help out situations, life would be great. KNP look to beat down GI'S
remember the soldier in the Itaewon brawl, nine officers? Could have killed him for what, helping his friends. If that happened in America to a Korean National, boy the Police will be paying him for the rest of his life.

There was an incident in the early 70's where I believe three soldiers from B Company, 728th MP Company, at that time in Pyongtek, took over the police box on Nam San Mountain. (You know, where the big antenna for Seould is located). They were equiped with .50 cal machine guns with interchangeable barrels, M-79 Grenade Launcher with "toxon" ammunition, small arms, and enough C-rations to make this an unbelievably long stay. Eventually, they surrendered after talking with BG Tobiason, at the time, the senior ranking officer available. A reminder though, these were not Military Policemen, but they were from support elements within the company.

Also, you have to remember, that the FOREIGNERS involved in whatever type of infraction, will immediately create a lotto winner of the victim and all those associated with the case.

Hey guys, I love the page. I was in Korea from Jan. of 05 till Mar. of 06' and I miss it all the time. I love to hear about things that are goin on over there. I have one request though. You have a Jun 05' incident involving an LMTV. I had a buddy that was involved in an accident with an LMTV at about the same time and was wondering if you could send me the info on the one you have listed since the page won't let me view it. Thanks again for the remonissing.

I realize this probably isn't the best page to ask this question but I'm running out of idea's. If anyone know's they can email me at: ugtabmedic@yahoo.com
