Korea Finder #38
|Here is something a little different for this week’s Korea Finder. Who can name who this person is?:
Here are this year’s current Korea Finder Leader’s Board:
Mark – 8
Peekstr – 1
James – 2
Note that who ever totals the most points at the end of the year, I will purchase for them a Korea related book or DVD of their choice using the proceeds I have accumulated by people purchasing books from Amazon.com on my website.
Chung Dong-Young, a.k.a. Minifiction.
I thought he was Chung Dong-young, Minister of Historical Amnesia.
I think Sonagi's answer is more accurate. Sonagi you win. 🙂
I guess "a big idiot" won't qualify?
How about, "Mr. Secret Hand Exposer"….?…
I think it was Joshua of OFK who coined the term "Minister of Historical Amnesia."
If you're going to stump your readers, you'll need to challenge us a little more. I instantly recognized that photo from previous posts. I do like the idea of using "Korea Finder" to highlight well-known Koreans. Shakuhachi's gravatar of the man considered Korea's most infamous traiter – the man who signed the document allowing Korea's annexation by Japan – went unidentified for a long time at the Marmots's Hole.
In Korea, you could stump em with the 1,000 or 5,000 won bills:

I discovered many of my Korean adult students didn't know the faces, and pointing that out by asking them to tell me about that person and the Korean history surrounding that person —— was a great motivator to get them to pick their own topics during "free talk" sessions.
I always kept one or two Korean history books in my class, and when they failed to generate a discusion, I'd whip one out and ask discussion questions about specifics in Korean traditional history.
Actually, I hope in a year's time, we call him "Mr. President…"
(though I admit that would be a tragedy for the South Korean people)
I figured I would start off with an easy person before moving on to some harder ones to ID.
Here is my vote for president of Korea talking in the US about unification and North Korea:

darn, i thought that he was the man who started the "fan death" rumor, it is getting to be that time of the year once again. so please be careful or "Fan Death" will get you.
