Anti-war Protester Attempts to Murder Airman

Here is news you will not see making leading headlines anytime soon:

The Pennsauken man who shot and wounded a member of the U.S. Air Force before killing himself left suicide notes that indicated he was “angry at the government and wanted to make a statement” on Independence Day, one of the man’s relatives said yesterday.

Matthew J. Marren, 22, of Walnut Avenue, drove to a home on Windsor Lane rented by Senior Airman Jonathan Schrieken, 22, at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Marren got of this vehicle, found Schrieken outside the house, shot him once in the chest with a small-caliber firearm, then turned the gun on himself, said Burlington County First Assistant Prosecutor Ray Milavsky.

[…]

Marren’s aunt, Terina Henderson of Trion, Ga., said she spoke to Marren’s mother yesterday who told her Marren left two notes, one in his home and one in his car, indicating he was upset with the government.

She said she did not know the exact wording in the notes, but said Marren was “mad at the government and wanted to make a statement … that’s why he did what he did on the Fourth of July.”

You can read more about this airman’s condition in the update here.

To paraphrase this great posting, just imagine instead of airman in this article you slipped in the word homosexual or abortion doctor?  Could you imagine the headlines that would make compared to this anti-war loon trying to murder a member of the US military?

I have expressed this over and over again that the biggest anti-Americans are not Koreans, are not the French, and the other usual suspects, but in fact American themselves.  I have seen some wacky distasteful things from the anti-US movement in Korea for example, but nothing that compares to the anti-American lunacy I have seen personally in America and this is just another example.

Yep…

…because we all know a 22 year-old senior airman deserves death because he is responsible for the War.

Note to all those contemplating going on a killing spree:

Stop taking out McDonald's and Luby's to get your 15 minutes of fame. Having bad tastes in food is no reason to die.

There are IRS offices full of ways to become a modern-day folk hero. Even a rampage at ATF or DEA will bring long-term admiration in certain circles.

And if you just have to protest the war with an offering of hot lead, for heaven's sake, shoot an officer… go to militarycorruption.com for a list.

GI,

I agree with you. This "murder attempt" is chicken-shit small-time "anti-war" terrorism. The sense-less murder of a military man is of the same order as the car-crash blast at the Scotland airport. It cannot be exploited for our cause. Why? Because it just doesn't inspire war-fatigued Americans to catch that second-wind needed to save Western civilization. These easily forgotten media-blips are not massive Pearl Harbor events that motivate.

GI, your sentiment against chicken-shit anti-war terrorism is shared by others: the "War of Terror" needs more terror attacks on the scale of 9/11 and 7/7 in order to save a failing American foreign policy, according to Lt.-Col. Doug Delaney, chair of the war studies program at the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario. The Royal Military College of Canada (RMC), is the military academy of the Canadian Forces and is a full degree-granting university, according to Wikipedia.

As a military career man yourself GI, who frets over America's lagging war enthusiam, I think you would sympathize. Military invasions since World War 2 require cooperation of the American population to succeed. War fever is good for America. It gives us a reason to spread democracy. If we could democratize "just one child" … the carnage would be all worth it. I think you would agree… it's for a worthy cause.

Could terrorist attacks actually bolster Western resolve?

You know it does… and the reason why you and I get a certain "I told you so" glee proving those American Islamo-fascist "anti-war" types wrong. The key to bolstering Western resolve is another terrorist attack like 9/11 or the London transit bombings of two years ago. If nothing happens these days, it will be harder still to get the American public on board for "justified" aggression against Iran and Syria.

Since terrorist attacks only boost the geopolitical agenda of Western governments — then it's not in our interest to prevent them. It's in our interests to again kick-start America's flagging sense of righteous indignation. Let's not cut and run like Ron Paul suggests.

Your general feelings expressed on this blog are in a similar vein to former Republican Senator Rick Santorum's statements to a radio show this past weekend, in which he said that "unfortunate events" will occur along the lines of the recent car bomb attempts in the UK, that will change American's views of the war. This will be more than small-time anti-war nut-case jobs. This is a promise of something really exciting.

Last month, the new chairman of the Arkansas Republican Party Dennis Milligan said that there needed to be more attacks on American soil for President Bush to regain popular approval.

I agree with you GI, small-time murder just won't cut it… another massive false-flag event … seems called for. Then we will "own" those Cindy Sheehan types. Hoo-rah! Semper Fi!

Keep up the good work.

Oh dear…

Democracy boy sounds suspiciously not unlike Silly Sally.

While I always enjoy, and frequently agree, with Silly Sally and associated socks, I want to remind everyone that I do NOT ever write under a name other than ChickenHead and I am not Silly Sally.

This, of course, becomes less clear when someone else's writing is sprinkled with "…"s.

Silly Sally… if that is you, my only criticism is that you should chose a name and stick with it. If your writing is sincere and you believe in it, there is no reason not to have it associated with your name.
