Soldier Who Tried To Kill Pregnant Woman Sentenced to 30 Years
|It is amazing that someone would try and kill a pregnant woman over $3,000:
Jurors on Wednesday evening sentenced a Fort Bliss soldier to 30 years in prison for brutally attacking a pregnant woman last year, leaving her partially blind and with extensive injuries.
Corey Moss, 20, initially didn’t show any emotion after 210th District Judge Gonzalo Garcia announced the jury’s sentence. Jurors also assessed a $10,000 fine.
Moss will be eligible for parole after serving 15 years of his sentence. He will receive credit for time spent in jail awaiting trial.
El Paso police arrested Moss on Oct. 30 for the brutal stabbing of Rachel Poole at her Northeast home. She was eight and a half months pregnant at the time but her baby girl was born healthy.
On Monday, Moss pleaded guilty to a charge of burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit aggravated assault and opted to have a jury decide his punishment.
At the time of the attack, Poole had been using the FaceTime app on her phone to video chat with her husband, Army Spc. Justin Poole, who had been deployed to Qatar. State prosecutors said Moss attacked Poole over a $3,000 debt Moss owed to the Pooles after damaging one of their vehicles. [Stars & Stripes]
You can read more at the link, but it would be interesting to know what the background of this criminal is that was allowed to join the Army in the first place. Hopefully the draw down will help prevent people like this from enlisting in the first place.

Hmmm.
As long as Congress will throw a shyt-fit if the military cannot make quota to keep Congressionally mandated force levels, and/or keep turds on active duty to maintain those levels, and/or Commanders getting graded on re-enlistment missions… you get the idea, as long as these forces are around we are gunna get what we are getting.
Then with the vertical power structure that is the military, we breed more criminals, not exactly these low lifes, but the ones who abuse their powers. We already had a number of criminals in the Military to begin with, then we added tons more in the rush to keep force levels when next to no one wanted to be in military, then we breeded more who were already criminal wanna-be types, but restrained themselves enough. Criminals have in them desires to commit crimes, they have the desire already, it may be ever-present of come in erectile urges like Dracula blood lust, but they all need an opportunity to commit crime, a perception, reality or indifference to getting caught. What held back the wanna-be crowd was fewer opportunities, but with more soldiers and more remote duty and more craziness, it got a lot easier.
I agree with the direction GI Korea is going with his point about the how the Soldier even got in the Army if the rest of his previous life is like the current.
To be fair, every time a General Officer gets caught doing criminally bad stuff, we should ask the same question. How did the turd get into the military in the first place?
Personally, I think such is a case of someone wanting to be a powerful dude, but wasn’t in the situation to do it and with time, his opportunities and real power to do so got better. Could be dude didn’t want to get caught, but somewhere, head got screwed up and lost either a touch with reality to think they were untouchable or wanted what they wanted more than they wanted to avoid getting caught.
@William, with this case here this guy is a very violent criminal. I would be surprised that this is the first time this soldier showed in criminal or violent tendencies. I could be wrong and maybe he was a model citizen and soldier before this crime was committed, but I doubt it.
With the higher ranking officers that have been getting in trouble the vast majority have been for ethical and moral lapses. I think it can be argued that they may not have started out their careers that way, but as they rose in the ranks they may have developed an attitude of being untouchable and could get away with things they would not have dared tried at lower ranks.
All you need to see is one picture and you will know everything you need to know about this.
in fact, you already know what it is going to show.

“you already know what it is going to show”
Yes! I was right… I guessed there’d be at least one bearded bastad in the photo and there was. 🙂
Where is tbone to tell us the jury was racist? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2486969/Rachel-Poole-stabbed-FaceTime-husband-SPEAKS-time-giving-birth.html
STUPID!
Smokes, you dumbazz. Look again.
The criminal is WEARING A TIE.
Have you not noticed that every time there is some truly depraved crime that ends in conviction, the perpetrator can be found to be wearing a tie?
If the defendant walks in wearing a tie, they should just declare an automatic guilty and adjourn the court.
“All you need to see is one picture and you will know everything you need to know about this.”
What you talkin’ bout, Willis?
“The criminal is WEARING A TIE.”
Also, I’m sure he’ll “find jebus” while he’s in the pokey. So everything will be just fine.
