Pentagon Scraps Millions of Dollars Worth of Planes for $32,000
Afghan government destroys $500M US bought planes, sells for 6 Cent scrap
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/10/10/500m-worth-us-bought-planes-destroyed-by-afghans-sold-as-scrap-for-6-cents/
Sixteen military transport planes bought by the United States government for the Afghan Air Force (AAF) at a cost of nearly $500 million were recently destroyed by the Afghan military and sold for scrap parts at around six cents per pound, prompting a government inquiry to determine why millions of taxpayer dollars were wasted on the ill-fated program.
The Department of Defense purchased for the AAF a total of 20 Italian-made G222 military transport planes at a cost of $486 million. However, the fleet was grounded in March 2013 “after sustained, serious performance, maintenance, and spare parts problems” were discovered, according to the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR).
Seattle changes ‘racist’ Columbus Day to Indigenous Peoples’ Day
http://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2014/10/07/Columbus-Day-now-Indigenous-Peoples-Day-in-Seattle/9581412715558/
Changing Columbus Day to Indigenous Peoples’ Day is “about taking a stand against racism,” a Seattle city council member said.
It is probably easy to get tickets to indigenous People’s Day events…
…you know…
…being that there are so many scalpers.
Can’t wait to see what they do for Thanksgiving. The purple penguins will surely love it!
Next up? 4th of July to be re-designated King George Day.
While those may not seem appropriate, I think renaming Labor Day to Corporation Day would be much more accurate.
In other news, there are many on the hard right concerned that the Ebola will go airborne.
The upside? They now believe in evolution.
/Obammy hate is THAT strong!
Leon, you should study more about the beliefs of hard right Christian conservatives before you start commenting on them.
Ebola going airborne has nothing to do with evolution.
Notice that it is mostly affecting illegal immigrants, non-whites, and the poors.
This is obviously a case of Intelligent Design.
You see, it’s just that the native Americans were engaged in much more honorable activities than Columbus. They certainly didn’t murder, enslave, pillage from, or rape their own people.
Another good argument for intelligent design, Johnnyboy!
You saucy salamander, you………
The Devil created this trap
and dumped Ebola right in our lap.
But God really cares
for he answered our prayers
with intelligent design of ZMapp.
Clever folk in these parts.
After all the time and effort invested in getting visiting forces and bases use agreements, this had to happen.
Who knows? Maybe it was set up by activists or the Chinese to scuttle everything? 🙄
JoeC: I do not think it takes much imagination to guess at what transpired…
Yeah. I put part of the blame on the military’s abstinence only policy when it come to “rental dates.”
If they had accepted that guys are gonna do it, they would have given them some basic safety training on the hazards out there and how to avoid them. A simple Crocodile Dundee exam might have avoided this.
This guy was probably totally unprepared for what he saw that night.
@JoeC Wasn’t the EDCA already signed? Regardless, one dead tranny isn’t going to alter a major agreement like that, especially not one that effectively pumps billions of dollars into the PI over the next 10+ years.
Jimbob that’s not all it’s going to pump into the PI. *rimshot*
JoeC so you’re suggesting the Dundee test? Is this only for pay to plays or dating in general? I can see a lot of sexual assault charges on the way if guys just go around Dundee’ing (wo)men in all the bars.
“A simple Crocodile Dundee exam might have avoided this.”
He probably DID giver her a simple Crocodile Dundee exam.
“That’s not a knife. THIS is a knife.”
Smokes: I meant a short term hook up, whether you’re paying for it directly or not. Especially in South East Asia where it’s so hard to tell the difference when you’re in a bar at night drinking. If you have suspicions, ask ‘how do I know you are real girl?’ and they might invite you to be hands on. If they don’t, move on.

Teen pleasures himself with stuffed toy inside Florida Wal-Mart: cops
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/teen-pleasures-stuffed-toy-florida-wal-mart-cops-article-1.1974807
A Florida teen got hot and dirty with a stuffed toy horse, using it to masturbate with inside a Wal-Mart, police said.
Johnson took the stuffed toy from a store shelf at the Wal-Mart in Brooksville and went to the bedding department at 3 p.m., store workers told police. Surveillance cameras allegedly caught Johnson pleasuring himself with the plushie and then returning the “contaminated” item to the toy aisle.
I hope it was a girl stuffed toy horse.
I’d hate to think he was some knd of weirdo.
Are Denny and tbone the same person?
No, I’m not a Democrat. I’m an Independent.
Setnaffa, give Denny a break.
Unlike Glands, Denny posts interesting links…
…plus, he doesn’t have Glands’ fake-innocent passive aggressive stupidity… which is a real plus.
I wonder where Glands got off to… I just realized he has been gone… yet, somehow, I didn’t miss him.
I kind of miss Teadrinker. He wasn’t stupid… but he was greatly misguided and fantastically Canadian-style geek proud… so it was great fun to shut him down when it could be shown his facts and/or his reasoning were flawed. Busting him on the constant “save the climate” lecture followed by “I’m going to buy an imported SUV” bragging doublespeak was the end of him. Hard to recover from digging your own grave that deep in a field of bullshyt.
Now, instead of Teadrinker, we get Tbone… who is neither smart nor proud… and posts far too often after a bout of substance abuse.
ROK Drop goes through phases of really intelligent comments about really interesting topics and intellectual dry spells.
It seems we need an officer to chop up his ex-juicy wife or an Osan SP to sexually assault a taxi driver while drunk to put some fire back into conversation.
Let the 2018 Pyeongchang games begin!
No not the actual games, all the horse5hit leading up to the games of course, first up:
South Korea scraps plans to hold 2018 Olympic ceremonies outside Pyeongchang
http://www.ctvnews.ca/sports/south-korea-scraps-plans-to-hold-2018-olympic-ceremonies-outside-pyeongchang-1.2056483
So instead of using the existing tax sink.. I mean stadium they already have in nearby Gangneung they’re going to spend a fuKgob more building yet another stadium that won’t be used in PyeongChang… PyeongChang.. you ever been out there? I have, there’s nothing there, what’s this thing going to be used for after the Olympics are over? Even if you filled the whole thing with every resident of PyeongChange there’d still be plenty of seating available.
Ok, next we have this liar who’s heading the South Korean organizing committee for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics:
Culture vs. Compassion: Where Does South Korea Draw the Line on Dog Meat?
http://www.onegreenplanet.org/animalsandnature/culture-vs-compassion-where-does-south-korea-draw-the-line-on-dog-meat/
Lying ajeoshi #1083624394 has been quoted as saying this issue “cannot be raised at Games time because there is no practice of eating dogs in Korea”.
Sure there isn’t Mr. Kim, that sign across the street from me that says 보신탕 is just folk art right? Look everyone knows Korea does it, just explain that the practice is limited and diminishing which is really the current trend and not a lie at all but I guess Uncie Confuscious say “Nothing said that isn’t a lie is worth saying.” I expect an off-the-books ban on all dog/cat/rat meat releated activites being banned within 160km of all visiting foreigners during the games so whatever.
On a serious side-note the photos they have at the link are actually pretty d4mned clean compared to the actual cages/dogs/overall conditions typical of the dog meat industry that I’ve seen.
Have a good weekend, don’t r4p3 anyone.
I’ know I am going to catch shiit for this one, but I like dogs as much as the next guy……as in not on my plate, but as a pet. I just don’t understand why one culture gets to judge another for what kind of animals they consume. What if the rest of the world kept chickens as pets and the U.S. was set to host the Olympics in 2018?
Who decides which animal’s life is worth more than another’s? Maybe the U.N. needs to get involved and pass a resolution with clear ranking of different types of animal life and which ones are socially acceptable to consume.
Obviously human infants would be most valued and would be completely socially unacceptable to eat.
Oh….right….I forgot China is on the Security Council……….
Japan, host of 2020 Olympics, eats dolphins and whales, which are supposedly smarter than dogs.
