Now, what could go wrong here?
Let the free market decide when it comes to maritime safety.
How much difference is there between a Coast Guard that takes bribes to do check the block inspections on ships that are clearly not following safe practices and the free market where businesses will sacrifice basic safety measures for even the smallest increase to profits.
It seems the Korean system had the worst aspects of both in place.
I don’t know what the solution is, but I hope that enough responsible people in Korean business and government can get their act together and realize these types of behavior are deplorable in a society that presents itself as first world.
