Myth on immigrants and crime
The Mythical Connection Between Immigrants and Crime
Newcomers to the U.S. are less likely than the native population to commit violent crimes or be incarcerated. http://www.wsj.com/articles/the-mythical-connection-between-immigrants-and-crime-1436916798
“So why is Donald Trump, whose comments about immigrants and crime are as ugly as they are uninformed, doing all the talking?
Mr. Trump is bringing heat to a debate that needs more light, and other candidates have an opportunity to provide it.
They might start by pointing out that numerous studies going back more than a century have shown that immigrantsâregardless of nationality or legal statusâare less likely than the native population to commit violent crimes or to be incarcerated. A new report from the Immigration Policy Center notes that while the illegal immigrant population in the U.S. more than tripled between 1990 and 2013 to more than 11.2 million, âFBI data indicate that the violent crime rate declined 48%âwhich included falling rates of aggravated assault, robbery, rape, and murder. Likewise, the property crime rate fell 41%, including declining rates of motor vehicle theft, larceny/robbery, and burglary.â
Every immigrant here illegally has already broken a law, though that doesnât mean they are predisposed to crime.
Mr. Trump wants to have an unserious debate about immigration, one that involves scaring voters and scapegoating newcomers for crime problems that are mostly homegrown. The liberal press corps will continue indulging him because heâs entertaining, and they know his bluster helps Hillary Clinton.”

If an illegal immigrant commits any further crime once they have entered the country, then there is an illegal immigrant crime problem. I don’t care whether the rate is higher or lower than the native population. They aren’t supposed to be here and their crimes should never have happened.
I know many of these people are looking for better opportunities. I am somewhat sympathetic to their situation, but when it comes down to it and whether they and their children have a better life or me and mine do, guess who I am going to choose.

I get that aspect of it as well, but that isn’t a good excuse for the federal government to shirk or half ass one of its key responsibilities of protecting the borders and sovereignty of the nation.
Honestly, I’m not so sure it would be as devastating as you might think. How much money might be saved on public and social services in the next decade if they suddenly went home and stopped having children here? Would that possibly offset the cost of the cheap labor drying up?
I don’t really blame them for coming here. I would likely do the same if I were in their shoes. It is our fault for allowing it to happen in such massive numbers and not really doing anything to prevent it.

@6,
McCain himself says he ain’t no hero, so why is Trump so bad? The GOP is so hypocritical, it was okay for the GOP to mock USA troops/attack war veteran John Kerry(D) and his purple hearts but it’s not okay to attack a GOP non-hero. I don’t understand the GOP â
Big ego man Leo K. Thorsness(fellow war prisoner with John McCain) calls himself a “war hero” but doesn’t being a “war hero” depend on others calling you one kind of like how a nickname is given? Who has ever called big ego man Leo K. Thorsness a hero other than himself?
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/08/30/gop.purple.hearts/
GOP Delegates mock Kerry with ‘purple heart’ bandages
Democrats: GOP ‘mocking our troops’
NEW YORK (CNN) — Delegates to the Republican National Convention found a new way to take a jab at Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry’s Vietnam service record: by sporting adhesive bandages with small purple hearts on them.
Morton Blackwell, a prominent Virginia delegate, has been handing out the heart-covered bandages to delegates, who’ve worn them on their chins, cheeks, the backs of their hands and other places.
Blackwell is president of the Leadership Institute, an educational foundation he founded in 1979. According to its Web site, the institute prepares conservatives for success in politics, government and the news media.
Kerry was a decorated Navy officer in Vietnam who became a prominent antiwar activist upon his return home. A group calling itself “Swift Boat Veterans for Truth” has accused Kerry of lying to win combat decorations in Vietnam, including the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
And last week, former Sen. Bob Dole, the party’s 1996 presidential nominee, brought more attention to the allegations when he told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, “With three Purple Hearts, he never bled that I know of. And they’re all superficial wounds.”

CNN’s Jake Tapper: GOP Says There’s ‘No Place’ To Swiftboat Vets ‘Unless You’re A Democrat’
Video, watch/listen to Texas Republican Rep. GOP Will Hurd ignore the point Jake Tapper makes and of course FoxNOTnews ain’t talking about it and all GOP’ers have conveniently forgotten all about it, including those here at ROKDROP. http://crooksandliars.com/2015/07/cnns-tapper-rips-swiftboating-hypocrisy
“On Sunday, CNN host Jake Tapper reminded Republicans who were outraged over attacks on Sen. John McCain’s war record that their entire party had been united in smearing then-Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry’s military service in 2004.
Turning to Texas Republican Rep. Will Hurd, Tapper recalled that delegates at the Republican National Convention wore Band-Aids with purple hearts to mock Kerry’s wounds during the Vietnam War, which was a continuation of the successful “Swiftboat Veterans for Truth” smear campaign.
“Is there a double standard here?” Tapper wondered. “Are Republicans — they say, ‘There’s no place in our party to disparage those who have served honorably.’ Well, unless you’re a Democrat?”
johnnyboy

Double standard in the GOP when it comes to insulting someone’s military career?
That’s a good point. Someone who served honorably should not be disparaged for their service. Like we have discussed before, most of us here aren’t specifically in tune with the GOP or their strategies and policies. You are speaking to us as if we are.
Trump probably shouldn’t have said anything that could have been taken as an insult to McCain’s service. What is probably scaring the establishment GOP right now (and possibly even the democrats) is that Trump’s poll numbers won’t take much of a hit if any at all.
Trump has already delivered a message that resonates with Americans who are paying attention and aren’t cognitively impaired. The illegal alien problem is a large part of what is currently wrong with this country. There should be many democrats that can get behind at least that part of his campaign since it also effects them.
Just a prediction, but I think this will all blow over for Trump and his poll numbers won’t suffer as badly as the purveyors of the 2 party system might hope. People care that he puts his foot in his mouth but they care more that he brings issues to the front that the establishment candidates ignore or pay lip service to. Whether he ends up being the candidate or not, the issues that he raises are what the country needs to be discussing.

Donald Trump is a fringe candidate who epitomizes a problem the parties have in their elections, mostly the GOP in their presidential elections. The ones who get the most attention in their primary races are the ones who pander most to the fringes of their base. The other candidates then try to get in on some of that fringe enthusiasm and take positions contrary to what they had been known for. Then, when a candidate gets to the general election he/she has has to try to disassociate from those positions.
The Donald Trumps and his like could never be elected in a general election.
Ironically, it was John McCain who played a major role in pushing the GOP out to its fringes when he nominated Palin as his VP partner.

The comments reflect the animosity that many national security hawks on Capitol Hill and within the government feel for Snowden, who has sought refuge in Russia for the last two years to avoid U.S. espionage charges.
Chamblissâs remarks came during a discussion about the major theft of 22 million peopleâs datafrom the Office of Personnel Management.

tbone’s “Southern drawl” is every bit as convincing as Hillary’s…
Nothing about swift boats in either post. The only big argument over Kerry was when he called US troops stupid and then backtracked saying it was a botched joke:
I really wonder what is in those Trump supporters hearts. Is the hate he spews more important than his beliefs or do we have another fine display of low information voters with a very short memory, or a combination thereof?
Facts about Trump:
4 draft deferments, calls out a POW who declined favorable treatment.
Registered Democrat until recently.
In favor of legalizing drugs.
In favor of a one-time 14.25% tax on the wealthy.
In favor of staying out of wars that didn’t present a direct threat to the US.
Trump has undergone an amazing transformation. Perhaps it came to him while dining on the “little crackers”.
Abortion
Then: On “Meet The Press” in 1999, Trump said he was “very pro-choice.” “I hate the concept of abortion,” he said. “I hate it. I hate everything it stands for. … but I just believe in choice.”
Now: In an interview with Bloomberg Politics in January, Trump said, “I’m pro-life and I have been pro-life.” He said he believed there should be exceptions in cases of rape, incest or the life of the mother.
Guns
Then: In Trump’s 200 book “The America We Deserve,” he wrote that he “generally” opposed gun control but supported an assault weapons ban and a longer waiting period to purchase a firearm.
Now: At the 2015 NRA-ILA Leadership Forum, Trump said if he became president, “the 2nd Amendment will be totally protected.” He told the Web site Ammoland he does “not support expanding background checks” and said current background checks “don’t work.”
Healthcare
Then: In an interview with Larry King in 1999, Trump said he was “very liberal when it comes to health care” and that he believes in “universal healthcare.”
Now: During his announcement, he called Obamacare “a disaster called the big lie” and said the deductibles were so high they were “virtually useless.”
Hillary Clinton
Then: Either Trump or his son donated to Clinton in 2002, 2005, 2006 and 2007, he invited her to his 2005 wedding in Florida, where she sat front row, and he’s donated at least $100,000 to the Clinton Foundation. He also said in an appearance on the Howard Stern show in the mid-2000s that she was a fantastic senator.
Now: On NBC on Wednesday, he called Clinton “the worst secretary of state in the history of our nation” and said she would be “a terrible president.”
Party affiliation
Then: Trump changed his party from Republican to Independent Party in 1999, and switched again to Democrat in 2001.
Now: Has been a registered Republican since 2009.
There are also some flips which haven’t necessarily been from left to right.
Jeb Bush
Then: In Trump’s 2000 book “The America We Deserve,” he called Bush “a good man,” “bright, tough and principled,” and “exactly the kind of political leader this country needs now and will very much need in the future.”
Now: On Fox News’s “On The Record” this week, he called Bush “pathetic” for his support of Common Core, said his immigration views were “baby stuff.”
Press availability
Then: Trump wrote in his 1990 book “Surviving At The Top” that he had been “burned too many times by reporters” and didn’t believe in being available for the media anymore.
Now: He grants more interviews than anybody else — including to the major TV stations on Wednesday and this new interview with the Post publish today and titled, “Trump vows long campaign, won’t commit to backing GOP nominee.”
If there are any Trump supporters here, please, please explain yourselves and your thought process. It ought to be interesting.

Leon,
Keep in mind I am not supporting any single candidate at this point in time.
A few of those topics listed, Trump appears to have changed his opinion on. Whatever the reasons or his motivation behind them, we may never know.
Political parties and their views change from time to time. He most likely aligned himself with the party that was better for his business empire and donated to anyone who might further his ambitions. He readily admits it.
As far as his opinions of Hillary and Jeb, people change too. Trump may have thought that they were decent people and political leaders at the time, but changed his opinion of them as they made their true positions more clear or flaws in their abilities became more apparent. Is it even a contradiction to say Hillary was a decent senator but a terrible secretary of state?
As far as healthcare, it’s not much of a contradiction for anyone to say that they are in favor of liberal, universal healthcare and then say that Obamacare has been a disaster. It hasn’t worked as it was promised. There are very few redeeming qualities in its outcome except maybe that some very sick people who were unable to get healthcare before now can get on a plan, however effective that plan may or may not be. Most others seem to have taken it in the pooper.
As for press availability, he wasn’t running for president when he made his previous comments that I am aware. It’s kind of hard to run a presidential campaign and not give access to the media. Can you imagine a candidate that avoided the press and only had one or two interviews up until this point? The press would eat you alive for not being transparent and answering the tough questions……..right?
You are right, some of these issues raise questions about Trump and whether or not he might be a bona fide flip flopper. He may be putting on a show. He has an abrasive personality. He went after a POW veteran.
In the end, those things are important, but to a growing number of conservatives it doesn’t seem to matter as much as the immigration issues he has raised and the fact that Trump isn’t afraid to say things that aren’t politically correct. Plainly, it seems they just don’t care if he puts his foot in his mouth. They want a change.
The GOP deserves every bit of grief that this is going to cause them. They have tried to win votes by heading left on the spectrum at the expense of abandoning principles and alienating their base. They have tried to have it both ways for a while now. No matter what happens this election cycle, I get the feeling the GOP won’t be around much longer in its current capacity. Americans that are paying attention are tired of the two party system. Conservatives that are paying attention are tired of electing leaders who head left as soon as they get in office.
I don’t think Trump will make it all the way, and I’m not 100% certain it would be good if he did. I am just happy he is shaking the establishment up a bit.
Let’s all sit back and enjoy the show. It should be an interesting one.

Leon, I cannot say I am a “Trump Supporter”… but, like a bi-curious dude glancing around to make sure his girlfriend isn’t in the room when he hits the ladyboy websites, I am a bit Trump-Curious.
Before addressing your points, keep this in mind…
Trump is saying a lot of stuff that is in agreement with what a large percentage of the population thinks… stuff that other candidates won’t address for fear of annoying loud special interest groups or stuff their owners/handlers/corporate donors/etc., won’t permit them to address.
Further, a lot of the other candidates are actually pushing policies and agendas that are so completely destructive and/or disconnected from reality that, by comparison, Trump looks good… and, like Obama, the more vague and theoretical he speaks, the better he looks… Hope and Change/Rebuilding the American Dream. These messages work… even if they are both empty.
But let’s look at your points…
Abortion – Trump may well be pandering to his conservative audience… or he may have really changed his mind in the last 15 years. As he pointed out, abortion is a terrible thing… and he may once have believed the alternative (unwanted children, poverty, crime, etc) was worse… but age has brought more mild or “compassionate” thinking. If you don’t live in a box, you certainly have seen this dynamic play out with those around you as they age… perhaps even yourself, if you are the introspective type.
Guns – Trump’s past belief in some control of certain guns and his current statements against control of guns are hardly inconsistent. Many people believed assault rifle bans and background checks would solve all problems. Now many people realize things like education, jobs, mental healthcare, and a sense of ownership in society are far more effective at reducing violence than fake bans.
Healthcare – Trump claimed to be liberal in healthcare and believe in universal healthcare… then claimed Obamacare was a disaster. Are you a crackhead? These statements are PERFECTLY consistent. Like police, fire, military, etc., sociialization of things that SHOULD NOT make a profit is a legitimate function of government. Obamacare is hardly universal healthcare. It is a wealth transfer scheme from the taxpayer to corporations which added yet more unproductive and expensive corporate and governmental layers between doctors and their patients… all to insure a few more people that current sociialized medicine programs would likely have better (and more cheaply) served.
Hillary Clinton – Any senator that does nothing of note is likely a fantastic senator. Hilary was a poor secretary of state. She would likely be a poor president… mainly due to the favors she owes, the agendas she would push, and her motivations which center around legacy-creation rather than any dreams of bettering America. You do grasp that all the power players work and live together… attending the same parties and joining the same clubs. They actually have some form of manners rather than sitting across the room and glaring at each other… usually. It sounds like Trump used Hilary’s high profile to build up his own. Open your eyes and look at the daily examples of this. His judgement would be more questionable if he did not behave this way.
Party Affiliation – This is a strange complaint coming from a guy who once identified as Republican. The parties have changed considerably and Trump changed with them. Republican during the Clinton years sounds reasonable. Democrat during the Bush years also sounds reasonable. Republican during Obama’s terms is hardly crazy. It sounds more like he simply recognized the craziness of each administration and does the opposite thing. This is somewhat of a feature rather than a bug.
Jeb Bush – In 2000, Jeb appeared to follow his beliefs… and they were reasonable. Now, it is clear Jeb is On the Program… supporting all the questionable policies that both parties seem to be pushing… from revisionist education to open borders. This seems like a valid observation rather than some crazy flip-flop… Jeb changed, not Trump.
Press Availability – “In his 1990 book”? Nothing changes in 25 years? Set down the Kool-Aid and back away from the Let’s Nitpick Trump Over Non-Issues table. If you had paid attention, you would have heard more updated thinking… such that Trump praised the media over the last few years… but it was the financial media that generally reported events and situations honestly… as opposed to the political media that spins everything for maximum effect.
“If there are any Trump supporters here, please, please explain yourselves and your thought process.”
Again, I am not willing to claim to be a “supporter”… but, especially in comparison to the competition, most of which area clearly unsupportable, I am showing interest.
My complaints would be:
– I want more specifics about how to “rebuild the American Dream”… such as reduction in regulations, more anti-Trust enforcement, encouragement to build domestic industry, etc. Hope and Change was all emotion and no substance… with predictable results. Without specifics, this is the same thing… also with predictable results.
– I want to hear less about Trump and more about issues other than the trans-border invasion.
All great cons start with telling the mark what they want to hear… and Trump is a great con-man… but the other candidates are mostly telling me the opposite of what I want to hear… hence, even if Trump did one or two things right… or nothing… it would likely be better than the competition.
“It ought to be interesting.”
Was it interesting to your expectations?
I’m happy to discuss this further, if you can stay on topic with intelligent questions and comments and not bring up the Muslim Kenyan Homosexual Dictator-in-Chief Dammy Whammy Obammy.

Leon, here is why I support Trump(for the GOP)…
Which other 2016 GOP president wannabe has said such a thing? As this happened in Texas what has former TX Gov. Perry said about it….
…”Perry: Sandra Bland Death âNeeds To Be Investigated With Great Transparencyâ
âJust be very, very transparent in the investigation, and lay the facts out, and the facts will speak for themselves â as they should.â
NOT SURPRISING IS THAT PERRY SAID NOTING ABOUT AN OUTSIDE/FBI/DOJ INVESTIGATION đł HE KNOWS ALL ABOUT “TX ~ BLACK MAN/WOMAN TRANSPARENCY.”
AND BESIDES, PERRY(“the guy who is trying to look smart with glasses”) HAS BEEN INDICTED FOR MULTIPLE FELONIES IN TX DURING THIS PRES. CAMPAIGN WHILE TRUMP HAS NOT.
Donald Trump said in an interview on Wednesday that the officer who arrested Sandra Bland was ‘overly aggressive’
When asked by Anderson Cooper if he felt that African-Americans have to deal with this treatment more frequently Trump said he thought they did
‘The answer is it possibly does. It shouldnât, and itâs very sad if the case is,’ said Trump
Bland was arrested after she was pulled over for failing to signal when switching lanes and her arresting officer alleged she kicked him in the shin
Prior to this trooper Brian Encina had threatened Bland saying he would ‘light her up’ while pointing a Taser at her if she did not leave her car
Bland was found dead in her jail cell on July 13”

GOP Cruz Gets Schooled On The Iran Deal By A Protester(VIDEO) http://www.addictinginfo.org/2015/07/24/codepink-cruz-protest/
“Cruz argued that the Iran deal would cause more than 100 billion dollars to flow into Iran, which will be used to train jihadists to kill Americans, Israelis, and Europeans. Cruz asks the activist, âDoes that make any sense?â
She responds, saying that it does not make any sense, meaning Cruzâs statments. Continuing, she goes on to say:
âŚ
Cruz responds to the woman saying:
âŚ
Irrefutable is a strong word to use, considering that talking point was already debunked earlier in July. Israelâs ambassador to the United States, Ron Dermer said in a speech:
âŚ
This statement is far less egregious version of Cruzâs statement. Yet it still earned a mostly false ruling from Politifact.
The right desperately wants to go to war with Iran and are trying to stir up the, âthe inquisition doesnât end until we say it doesâ crowd. Fortunately, every effort the right-wing has done to try and disrupt the Iran deal has completely blown up in their faces.
You can watch the full video of the disruption below, in full.”

Leon, due to my positive comments about Trump, you pretty much called me out… which is fine… as forced examination of our thoughts is a very good way to keep them clear, focused, and valid.
You read my reasonable reply… yet you lacked the courtesy to respond with either, “I understand now,” or, “You are wrong because…”
This behavior is common among those who love to talk the talk but are intellectually or emotionally incapable of walking the walk… the Toms and Tbones of the world… and, increasingly, the Leons.
This is 100% puzzy behavior on your part, Leon… well, 99% puzzy behavior until you follow up with some completely pointless and unamusing comment about Obammy and Jade Helm.
I am sorry you are having some personal diffficulties… but if you intend not to follow through in a conversation, why start it?
How about sharing your thoughts on the replies I gave you.

“Sorry CH. Pretty busy and weâve been over much of that ground in the past⌔
…but not too busy to run your mouth in the first place… pissing on Trump and Trump supporters with a long comment full of gotcha talking points that you didn’t quite realize were that weak when you took the time out of your busy schedule to cut and paste them here.
If you ride bikes like you debate politics, you probably mouthed off to some guy and he just smiled and kicked over your bike. You scrambled to pick it up, all teary-eyed, while glancing around to see if anybody noticed. He stood by and watched while saying, “Puuuus-pus-pus-pusssyyyyy.” You went home and found something to yell at your wife for.
Come on, Leon. Don’t be like that.
“weâve been over much of that ground in the past”
Actually, we have not. That is just an excuse… a poor, lazy excuse… by someone who seems quick to throw out their lame opinion but slow to defend it. You have been all over that type in years past. Now you ARE that type.
We have never discussed Trump’s opinion on abortion, Trump’s opinion on guns, Trump’s opinion on healthcare, Trump’s interactions with Hillary, Trump’s party affiliation, Trump’s thoughts on Jeb Bush (or even Jeb Bush), or Trump’s press availability… which are issues YOU brought up and demanded answers on. When you got reasonable answers, you simply ignored them instead of acknowledging or debating them.
That’s a wussy move, Leon… double wussy when claiming that we have been over that ground when we have not.
“/and Iâm weary of rehashing Romneycare.”
But it is not Romenycare. Romney was not the president that pushed it through. It is Obamacare… and he has ownership of its good and bad points. None-the-less, the issue YOU brought up was not Obamacare (or Romney care, if you insist). The issue YOU brought up was Trump’s opinion on Obamacare. There is no rehash of anything.
You can say my facts are wrong and my analysis is incorrect. You can show me better facts and more clever analysis. I will admit the situation when proven wrong. I will reconsider the situation further when shown the issue has more complexity than my opinion considered.
Leon, you can debate me and you can teach me… but you cannot bullshyt me.
And I am being bullshytted.

Trump was much smarter in his second marriage. An iron-clad prenup kept Marla from walking away with “half his money”.
She got two million cash plus The Donald took care of their kid.
While that seems like a large amount, he was worth about 5 billion at the time. It seems Trump just bought a crazy-expensive, but affordable, piece of azz… little different than when the 1% invest in failed ventures or wreck their supercars.
I can’t help but notice that almost all criticism of Trump either attacks the man or attacks an intentionally-incorrect view of his message.
That gets my attention.

He’s right on illegal immigration.
Otherwise, he has no real track record as a conservative. His business history smacks of crony capitalism and he’s filed for bankruptcy four times (“not personal bankruptcy!”). In the spirit of “too big to fail” his credit remains sound. IF he doesn’t employ illegal immigrants, it’s surely not out of any sense of personal principle. He’s milking the immigration issue for its shock and publicity value, well I’ve enjoyed the show. God willing, soon he’ll pull a Trump and go off looking for some other issue to bring glory to himself.

At the last minute, after obtaining a huge following he essentially bailed. That was Perot, and now we’re staring down another potential Clinton presidency for that reason. I’d vote for a turd over Hillary, but these are the choices?!?
Okay, done.

“But donât attack the man or his decisions”
I have not quite said that, Liz… but rather suggested that some decisions are more important to observe than others
I have said more than once that Trump is a con man from way back… which should be an issue… but, amazingly is not.
Curiously, the attacks on Trump’s past are not valid question about personal loyalty, business ethics, or shady association, etc… but petty gotcha issues about slightly evolving beliefs over decades. This is likely due to ALL candidates from both parties having ethical issues. The Clintons’ excessive speaking fees from organizations looking to benefit from their positions comes to mind.
“Heâs right on illegal immigration.”
Absolutely. The destruction of America as we know it is being engineered before our eyes… from the globalization of labor which will damage the middle class to further pressure on low-skilled Americans who already have employment problems. Illegal immigrants are willing to work for a wage that does not allow an American lifestyle… which hurts all Americans.
“Otherwise, he has no real track record as a conservative.”
That is not entirely true. More accurately, he has a track record of doing what benefits The Donald… with, perhaps, a tendency to go against the establishment. On a personal level, his track record seems to be filled with things I agree with… conservative ideas like Second Amendment rights and liberal ideas like the government having some responsibility for maintaining a healthy population.
Can you look back in Trump’s past and give some examples of beliefs he has expressed that you do not agree with? Can you find more of these examples than you can with Hillary, Jeb, or the rest?
“His business history smacks of crony capitalism”
That is the issue the media should focus on… but they cannot… since all of the serious candidates (and maybe the rest, too) have the exact same past. Any “Trump blah blah blah crony capitalism” would be answered with “But Hillary” and “But Jeb”… and they would be right.
The issue here is that, from paranoid conservative to whacky liberal, one has to have cronies to make it to the level of candidate… and even the most liberal firebrand becomes a capitalist in this situation… taking advantage of position and association to get special deals not available to the little people.
“and heâs filed for bankruptcy four times (ânot personal bankruptcy!â). In the spirit of âtoo big to failâ his credit remains sound.”
This is shytty, shytty, shytty… but it is how the current crony capitalist system in America is structured… from privatizing profit and socializing risk… to business strategies involving acquiring government money rather than looking to produce something useful… to established Corporations Are People legal concepts which allow the corporation to take financial responsibility away from the actual people who make high-risk decisions with investor funds. Complaining that Trump understands this and used this to protect himself in high-risk ventures is a bit naive… falling under the category of Hate the Game, Not the Player.
“IF he doesnât employ illegal immigrants, itâs surely not out of any sense of personal principle.”
You may be absolutely right… though there certainly are many reporters out there suddenly practicing real journalism and looking for this scoop… “Trump Employes Illegals”. Strange it has not come up. It would be educational to know why this is not happening if personal principles is not the reason.
“Heâs milking the immigration issue for its shock and publicity value”
Which has been my biggest complaint… as that is a one-trick pony. I didn’t fall for “Hope and Change” and I am not falling for “Make America Great Again” without a lot of specifics… which Trump has not given. His speeches are 45% Look At Me, 45% Illegal Immigrants Are Bad, and 10% agreeable but non-specific statements. Specifics is what the media (and voters) should be demanding… but that would give him direction… and he might come back with popular (and/or sensible) answers that the other candidates will not.
Again, I am not a “Trump Supporter”… but what little he says is far more sensible and agreeable than some of the whacked out crap the other candidates are speaking seriously about.
I am to the point I would rather see gridlock with Trump as president than see Hillary or Jeb accomplish even a fraction of what they promise to push.
Consider these ideas.

The thing is Trump ain’t got nothing to show us and EGGHEAD only gave us a 10 year old laughable link that didn’t prove anything. What’s worse is that they don’t understand the difference between “send” and “bring” as American smugglers are largely to blame for bringing the non-documented to USA.

I could care less who brings them here. I want it to end.
The country absolutely cannot sustain the welfare state while at the same time facing an invasion of illegal immigrants.
“while at the same time facing an invasion of illegal immigrants.”

McCain ain’t no “war hero” DUH â But EGGHEAD, jonnhyboy, etc…will believe and follow Trump.
There’s 11 million people here (probably much more) that aren’t supposed to be here. Not an invasion?
If an illegal immigrant commits any further crime once they have entered the country, then there is an illegal immigrant crime problem. I don’t care whether the rate is higher or lower than the native population. They aren’t supposed to be here and their crimes should never have happened.
I know many of these people are looking for better opportunities. I am somewhat sympathetic to their situation, but when it comes down to it and whether they and their children have a better life or me and mine do, guess who I am going to choose.
If all of the people who are in the USA illegally were to disappear tomorrow, consider how it would affect the economy. Probably more adversely than beneficially.
It needs to be a well considered and orderly process.
Illegal immigration in America has negatively impacted black employment numbers. Is that why tbone supports it?
“Probably more adversely than beneficially.”
Not if you cut welfare at the same time.
No free ride and lots of job openings… a match made in heaven.
@6,
McCain himself says he ain’t no hero, so why is Trump so bad? The GOP is so hypocritical, it was okay for the GOP to mock USA troops/attack war veteran John Kerry(D) and his purple hearts but it’s not okay to attack a GOP non-hero. I don’t understand the GOP â
Big ego man Leo K. Thorsness(fellow war prisoner with John McCain) calls himself a “war hero” but doesn’t being a “war hero” depend on others calling you one kind of like how a nickname is given? Who has ever called big ego man Leo K. Thorsness a hero other than himself?

@12,
CNN’s Jake Tapper: GOP Says There’s ‘No Place’ To Swiftboat Vets ‘Unless You’re A Democrat’
DHS and FEMA bought all those billions of rounds of ammo. You would think they have a plan to expend the ammo before it is unfit for use.
GI Korea attacked John Kerry as did his minions pile on as I recall but for some reason he’s silent now đ
Yes Johnnyboy, Gi Korea is showing his “Double standard” with his silence â
I don’t see Trump going all the way to the White House, but I think it’s interesting he is performing so strongly in many early polls. Is it really that radical to say that we should take effective steps to prevent illegal immigration? It’s kind of the law even if it isn’t enforced worth a damn.
Was this site even here in 2004 for GI Korea to badmouth John Kerry? I certainly wasn’t here to see it if he did.
Trump is performing strongly because he is saying what a large number of average Americans are thinking…
…ideas which other candidates refuse to address… for fear of angering the media, loud special interest groups, corporate donors, and those who profit from American dysfunction.
Trump will never make it to the White House… as there are too many powerful intetests against his message… Democrats who hide their desires for more voters behind accusations of racism, Republicans pushing cheap labor for their corporate sponsors, liberal reporters who may actually believe somevof what they write.
If Trump gets close, They will find a way to sabotage him… though they will try to let him get far enough to dilute the Republican vote in hopes of getting Hillary elected.
Americans deserve what they allow.
Trump has a bad lid.
It’s even worse than my frog helmet.

http://thehill.com/policy/national-security/248490-ex-top-spy-committee-senator-publicly-hang-snowden
“We need to hang him on the courthouse square as soon was we get our hands on him,â retired Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) â who served as vice chairman of the powerful intelligence panel before stepping down from Congress last year â said during an appearance at the University of Georgia this month.

The comments reflect the animosity that many national security hawks on Capitol Hill and within the government feel for Snowden, who has sought refuge in Russia for the last two years to avoid U.S. espionage charges.
Chamblissâs remarks came during a discussion about the major theft of 22 million peopleâs datafrom the Office of Personnel Management.
âJust like with Snowden, weâre going to lose American lives as result of this breach,â Chambliss said.

After proclaiming that the Confederate flag isnât a symbol of hate and vowing a peaceful protest against its removal, members of the Ku Klux Klan required a police escort to leave a rally in front of the South Carolina statehouse on Saturday.
The Klan rally was scheduled from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the south side of the statehouse grounds, while on the north side, the Black Educators For Justice were scheduled from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., Greenville Online reports. Governor Nikki Haley had asked people to stay home instead.â

Sandra Bland UNLAWFUL ARREST…
Dashcam video shows Sandra Bland arrest
This CRAZY copâs actions will be a teaching instrument on how cops should NOT escalate a simple traffic stop after cop hops on the rear of a vehicle when it moves over and CRAZY cop pulls over driver despite unlawful arrest.
CRAZY white RACIST cop let a minor traffic stop get out of control, leads to hands on, pointing taser, use of force, etcâŚ
CRAZY cop ordered her out of car without suspicion, criminal activity, safety threat, or DWI/DUI driving suspicion.
Cop asksâŚWould you mindâŚputting out cigarette? She did mind, so that means sheâse should be arrested andâŚIâm going to⌠light you up/shoot you dead if you donât listen to me and get out of your car for smoking you guilty non-blinking black woman!
Cop leaves out âarrestâ in police report, starts with her exiting her car which is an inaccurate description of so-called âarrest.â
Then they take her to a jail cell where there is a 48 gallon garbage can with plastic liner when there has been recent âsuicidesâ at the same jail. WTF does a prisoner need a 48 gallon garbage can with plastic liner for? And since when were Texas cops so generous? The G** D*** garbage can took up most of the space in the jail cell.

My two cents: Trump will be just enough of a distraction to the Republican candidates to let Hilary win the White House just as Ross Perot was to George H.W. Bush in 1992.
“what EGGHEAD doesnât want you to see because he hates women and only sees tongue and lips when watching”
I don’t hate women.
I mean, it’s not like my diick can suck itself.
“cop hops on the rear of a vehicle”
Let me clarify…The white racist cop was tailgating her on a low traffic road when she pulled over from the left lane to the right, so he pulls her over without blinking, threatens to drag her out of car, shoot her(light her up), and beats her down to the ground. The cop illegally arrested her and should write himself a ticket for that and tailgating.
And that jailhouse probably murdered her and is trying to cover it up saying a 48 gallon plastic bag hung her. đ She had two degrees and a masters đ White racists like to kill the smart ones too â
“And that jailhouse probably murdered her and is trying to cover it up saying a 48 gallon plastic bag hung her.”
I heard the bag and the jailhouse arguing. The jailhouse was asking the bag why it hanged her. The bag was denying it… but that’s what bags always say. Jailhouses are often accusatory and bags deny everything. What can you trust these days?
Then the whole conversation changed to why Tbone, the “Englishee teacher” didn’t know the difference between hung and hanged.
They both agreed he needed to be well-hanged even if he was not well hung.
Now the Waller County TX did done mess up the autopsy. So, the cop illegally made and arrest and then lied about in the police report, the cops illegally edited the video tape just like white racists do, the cop white racists killed an innocent women or let her die in their custody, the county coroner done did it wrong, the county attorney and/or assistant can’t communicate what they done did wrong. That’s it, time for someone from the outside(NON-WHITE SUPREMACISTS) i.e. FBI or DOJ to take control of the investigation cause those dumb white southern racists don’t know what they done did do from one minute to another. đ
tbone’s “Southern drawl” is every bit as convincing as Hillary’s…
@17- Usually I just ignore T-bone, but I think he is referring to the “swift boat” scandal which I cannot recall ever being discussed on this site.
So I went through the archives and found this posting from all the way back in 2004 before the election:
https://www.rokdrop.net/2004/10/highlights-from-watching-korean-news/
Here is another post from way back down memory lane in 2004 where I actually liked Howard Dean!:
https://www.rokdrop.net/2004/08/fahrenheit-911-comes-to-korea/
Nothing about swift boats in either post. The only big argument over Kerry was when he called US troops stupid and then backtracked saying it was a botched joke:
https://www.rokdrop.net/2006/10/kerry-botched-joke/
If there are any Trump supporters here, please, please explain yourselves and your thought process. It ought to be interesting.
@37 TagumCityTim
“My two cents: Trump will be just enough of a distraction to the Republican candidates to let Hilary win the White House just as Ross Perot was to George H.W. Bush in 1992.”
Now we know what NOTnews station TagumCityTim watches.
What TagumCityTim is referring to is known as the GOP’s created MYTH(to make them feel better as to why George H.W. Bush lost to Bill Clinton â
“If there are any Trump supporters here, please, please explain yourselves and your thought process. It ought to be interesting.”
I’m a supporter because according to you he’s “In favor of legalizing drugs” and he’s better than any other current GOP candidate. Also, if he becomes the next clown RNC elected president wannabe, he’s sure to lose to whoever the democrats elect. đ
Leon,
Keep in mind I am not supporting any single candidate at this point in time.
Movie Shooter and yes he’s white. Or was this set up by GOP 2016 presidential candidate Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal(R) to steal the thunder out from Trump? VOTE for Bobby Jindal â He was smart to pick a white man to do the shooting as it’s more believable. Just like how the common pyromaniac…

DUH â Facts are the facts, but EGGHEAD is into stereotyping thy black man as though they have a monopoly on fire, fire â â

CAMPAIGN WHILE TRUMP HAS NOT.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3171701/Donald-Trump-says-officer-arrested-Sandra-Bland-overly-aggressive-adding-s-sad-African-Americans-deal-treatment-frequently.html
“Donald Trump says officer who arrested Sandra Bland was ‘overly aggressive’ adding it’s ‘sad’ African-Americans have to deal with such treatment more frequently
I also support Trump because I’m looking forward to watch his C O C K – slapping of Jeb Bush and the GOP rest during the debate in early August đ
I’m in favor of Trump doing whatever his American Freedoms allow.
But I do wish folks would stop giving him free non-stop coverage.
Or is it because we like clowns?
Dummy GOP Perry and his attorney thinks “abuse of power/abuse of official capacity” = class C misdemeanor but it’s really a felony. DUH, I suppose they can dream. Dummy indicted Rick Perry/GOP 2016 president candidate wannabe(GOP former TX Governor who’s got a new let’s wear glasses style in an attempt to look smart) is clocking in at 1% as is Rick Santorum(1%). It appears neither of these two doorknobs will be making the FoxNOTnews debate.

GOP Cruz Gets Schooled On The Iran Deal By A Protester(VIDEO)
http://www.addictinginfo.org/2015/07/24/codepink-cruz-protest/
Leon, Hannity TOTALLY supports Trump. Or at least he did Fri. night on his show with Geraldo and some other guy.
Sorry CH. Pretty busy and we’ve been over much of that ground in the past…
/and I’m weary of rehashing Romneycare.
Two words. Marla Maples.
After that I have to question his judgement in all matters.
Actual Marla Maples quote:
“I was an only child until I was about 29⌔
He put a ring on that.
#62
I think those rich guys used to call them trophy wives. Except they don’t just sit on the shelf looking nice. They tend to get up and walk away with half their money.
The costs of Trump’s first marriage should be counted with the second (he left the wife for Marla). This guy has been tabloid fodder for decades, for a reason. He’s a brand. A living parody. But don’t attack the man or his decisions (“character doesnt’ matter stick to the issues!”âŚhistory rhymes)
CH, you’ve mentioned apathy. This is why we have election apathy (and political apathy in general). It’s a psychological defense mechanism when we’re all staring down these sorts of choices.
Let’s remember the last time this sort of guy (flashy, self-promoting, rich) had a real political following, and said a lot of good stuff. He didn’t see it through.
CH, you and Liz have a great discussion going here. I am appalled that we are this close to having a Clinton Bush election. But Weekend at Bernie’s and most of the other candidates scare me, too.
Where’s John Wayne when we need him… đ
Seriously though, these detestable politics are a just a symptom of our nation’s real troubles. I mean, we got tbone trashing the GOP to support old white people! Where’d that come from?
Hint: the devil doesn’t wear red pajamas and carry farm tools.
CH, I can’t argue with any of your points, but per this:
“You may be absolutely right⌠though there certainly are many reporters out there suddenly practicing real journalism and looking for this scoop⌠âTrump Employes Illegalsâ. Strange it has not come up. It would be educational to know why this is not happening if personal principles is not the reason.”
I lived in Las Vegas for three years and don’t remember ever seeing anyone I’d suspect was an illegal immigrant working the casinos. So maybe the casino business doesn’t use them so much.
(not that they aren’t aroundâŚbut they were out on the sidewalks noisily slapping everyone with porn magazines and throwing porn cards at them)
Just thinking further, I guess it makes sense because most of that type of service industry works for tips, not wages (think the min wage laws don’t apply to valets, cocktail watresses, and so forth).
I would guess Trump has never employed an illegal alien.
He pretends not to notice that he subcontracts that out to construction companies.
Why Jeb isn’t an option: http://pjmedia.com/lifestyle/2014/11/30/chinese-american-mom-says-common-core-is-just-like-education-in-communist-china/
