Um… Isn’t the ROK paying more than 40 percent of the cost of maintaining US forces in Korea?

It sickens me to think that candidate Trump sees the US defense of foreign nations strictly as a dollars-and-cents consideration. It is in our national interest, as well as the world’s interest, to prevent the NK regime from taking over the Korean peninsula. Historically, we have had an obligation to defend the ROK since fighting to a draw during the 1950-1953 conflict. North and South Korea are still technically in a state of war, and we are still one of the combatants in that war. I guess he’s been too busy building his own wealth to take any time to actually study up on the history of the region. He must not have good advisers working for him, because they neglected to tell him that the ROK foots a significant portion of the bill for maintaining US forces on its soil, a portion which is occasionally renegotiated as the ROK is more able to pay for its defense. We don’t just do it for “free.”

Even if SK said we aren’t paying anything at all from now on, wouldn’t the US still want to keep the bases in SK anyway?

Typical S Korean BS reactions and misinterpretation too.

It’s ok for them too burn the US flag and ephigies of US leaders, attack US service members, hold anti-American rallies over stupid beef imports all based on bad editing and false info, but some dumbass candidate says something moronic and their world implodes.

Get over yourselves LOSERS! They can’t even interpret what “crazy” means in the context presented.

“Um… Isn’t the ROK paying more than 40 percent of the cost of maintaining US forces in Korea?”

The cheapskates should be paying 100%. Koreans are always quick to point out that it is their country and everyone not Korean has the first name on non-Korean, so yeah, it’s THEIR country.

They should shut up, or kick out the US and let the Chinese take over the defense of Korea.

What do you think about that Korea?

Koreans report that the new agreement forces S. Korea/S. Koreans to pay 40-42% of the total cost of S. Korean defense leaving Americans to STUPIDLY pay the difference…58% of S. Korean defense. And that’s the best deal Americans have seen for 60 years.

So why does Trump continue bashing the Japanese while being silent on S. Korea?

I swear GI Korea told us S. Korea now pays about 47% ?????????????????????????

http://www.businesskorea.co.kr/article/2922/rok-us-military-cooperation-south-korea%E2%80%99s-share-defense-cost-reach-867-mil-58-increase
“Seoul and Washington reached a new five-year Special Measures Agreement (SMA) last year, with Seoul agreeing to increase its contribution 5.8% to $867 million adjusted each year by formula for inflation with increases capped at 4%. The agreement increased Korea’s cost share from approximately 40% to 42% and proved unpopular with Korean media and among Koreans.”

White Man Fire Destruction. Or I should say MORE White Man Fire Destruction…

What’s wrong with the white man, haven’t they ever heard of the rule that goes…“Pack it in, pack it out?”

http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/07/24/cyclist-burns-used-toilet-paper-starts-forest-fire/
“On Wednesday, a cyclist traveling through the Hulls Gulch Reserve in Boise, Idaho, started a 73-acre fire when he burned the toilet paper he used after pooping in the forest.”

I have a suspicion that the actual cost sharing of US forces in Korea is very different than what is marketed to the public.

An example of this thinking would go like this:

“Say there, General Kim, these here F-16s cost eleventy-billion dollars to maintain and operate plus depreciation and new paint jobs… so that there is our contribution.”

“Ahhh-haaa… but General Halftrack, this number one land where your pollution-leaking base is could be rented for 12 gazillion won to developers of boxy apartments… so that is our contribution.”

“Well, how should we adjust these here numbers to give a percentage that will keep your little Korean people from demonstrating in the streets while allowing our American politicians to claim what a great deal they are getting in the run-up to an election year?”

“Hmmm… maybe Korean people happy with something like 40 percent. They think we get ten percent discount on defense from stupid Americans. We can say land only worth 9 gazillion won.”

“Sixty percent for America? Sounds good. Those planes don’t cost too much more to train with here than back home where we were going to use them anyway, so it ain’t no big thang. We can do that. Besides, one of them big-azzed celebrity skanks squirted out another half-breed kid and some innocent unarmed black aspiring rapper got shot last week on a raape spree in a girl’s orphanage so Americans don’t give a hoot about cost sharing agreements for Korean defense.”

Excellent post Chickenface. South Korea pays for something that would still need to be paid for by the US, even if US withdraws from Korea. An American F-16 will still need to be worked on and piloted even if the US withdraws from Korea. The US isn’t going to trash those F-16’s nor are they going to tell their USFK personnel they are laid off. If the US leaves Korea, the US military will just transfer those personnel somewhere else, but this time there will be no Korean tax payer paid subsidy to help pay for their costs. I say let the US pay 100% of their own cost, or kick them out. Enough of this smoke and mirror side shows.

Exactly Tom. However, the US should leave, stop providing any help at all and let Korea sink or swim.

No western nations should help. Korea is an Asian problem better left for the Chinese to handle. Asia for Asians.

Americans (not gyopos of course) and western peoples in general, aren’t even human to them. Americans are tripwires to most Koreans and the only thing they really want is for them to do is to die for them.

Korea just isn’t worth it, let the Koreans alone bleed for their country, most of them hate non-Koreans anyway.

I can’t count the times Koreans have told me (after finding out that I’m not American) that the US should leave and if there is a war, they can come back via the bases they have in Japan. Most of these losers were men that served in the military and you’d think they’d know better. 😮

Why die for a friend that is really nothing more than a backstabber that hates it’s friend(s) and anyone else with blood that isn’t pure?

It’s time to be closer friends with Japan, especially militarily. The Japanese are the closest thing to being a real friend. Bush Jr even said so. 😎

Koreans can’t and shouldn’t be trusted at any level. A very, very small amount of them can be, but one bad Korean orangee spoils the bunch. I’ve had that said to me by Koreans about “foreigners” when a “scandal” involving foreigners has happened, so I can use it for them too.

They themselves are money sucking leeches. Ironic considering how some Koreans have actually criticised western welfare leeches, yet they don’t pay the full bill for their own country’s freedom.

Guessing they pay more than 40% is simply guessing. Show us the PROOF that they pay more than that. Until they pay 100%, they are the same as any welfare bum in the West-hands down. 😀

Maybe Korea should be referred to as Little China from now on because we know what the future will eventually hold 🙂

Maybe the Koreas would be better off with Chinese military bases on it’s soil. China is the world’s oldest colonial power and knows what’s best for the whole of Asia, right Tom? 😀 Just ask the Viets.

33 most charitable countries in the world named…

Trump shouldn’t focus on Japan so much and tell us that S. Korea isn’t a very giving nation…, Kenya, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Malawi, Tanzania, Central African Republic,

Look at all those African countries who are a more giving people than those in S. Korea 😮

And here are some more…Japan, Thailand, Laos, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar are ALL more giving than S. Korea/S. Koreans.

The World Giving Index, compiled by the Charities Aid Foundation, has released this year’s list of the world’s most giving nations.
http://www.mnn.com/lifestyle/responsible-living/stories/the-worlds-33-most-charitable-countries-named
” Gallup asked people which of the following three charitable acts they had undertaken in the past month:

donated money to an organization?
volunteered time to an organization?
helped a stranger, or someone they didn’t know who needed help?

Gifts and time spent for religious groups and political organizations were counted as charitable acts.”

UN Cost sharing sees S. Korea…well, being S. Korea 😮 Far below Japan.
http://www.un.org/en/peacekeeping/operations/financing.shtml
“Every Member State is legally obligated to pay their respective share towards peacekeeping. This is in accordance with the provisions of Article 17 of the Charter of the United Nations.

How much does peacekeeping cost?

The approved budget for UN Peacekeeping operations for the fiscal year 1 July 2014-30 June 2015 is about $7.06 billion

By way of comparison, this is less than half of one per cent of world military expenditures (estimated at $1,747 billion in 2013).

The top 10 providers of assessed contributions to United Nations Peacekeeping operations in 2013-2015
United States (28.38%)
Japan (10.83%)
France (7.22%)
Germany (7.14%)
United Kingdom (6.68%)
China (6.64%)
Italy (4.45%)
Russian Federation (3.15%)
Canada (2.98%)
Spain (2.97%)

S. Korea is NOT in the top 10
Republic of Korea 1.9940%
