Ulchi Freedom Guardian Exercise Begins In South Korea
|All you keyboard warriors in Korea have fun the next two weeks:
The U.S. and South Korea quietly kicked off their annual Ulchi Freedom Guardian exercise Monday, despite protests and warnings from North Korea.
The annual computer simulation drill is scheduled to run through Aug. 28, with about 50,000 South Korean and 30,000 U.S. troops taking part, according to South Korea’s Ministry of National Defense.
Combined Forces Command described UFG as “a routine and defense-oriented exercise designed to enhance CFC readiness, protect the region and maintain stability on the Korean peninsula.” The exercise is planned months in advance and is not connected to real-world events, it said. [Stars & Stripes]

“Guys look here, you can make the text fly in from the side and add a sound effect. The boss will be really impressed at the shift change brief with this slide!”
Seriously. I have clothes older than those soldiers… 😐
okay, sailors… sorry…
Setnaffa, it is a sign of an old man to start believing guys are too young for their jobs…
…forgetting that many of us were once in our late teens and early 20s with an amazing amount of power and responsibility.
When you consider that most of us have been driving since 16… crossing the United States alone in my case… in control of a deadly slug of speeding steel… these guys don’t seem to young to be trying to figure out PowerPoint.
My observation on the picture is that the black guy has a military afro right out of the 70s, the next guy looks like he played “Soldier In Diner” on Happy Days, episode 143, and the young Jean-Luc on the right has not yet assumed command of his first garbage scow but is learning how to use the Official Starfleet Navigation Simulator from Sulu’s cousin .
The Korean guy is thinking, “Biitches, after this exercise, like it or not, I’m going to win the Big Square Head award.”
