4. As you know, some folks in America are only against Islamic theocracy but Christian theocracy is just fine, right Mr. Huckabee?
Anyhoo, I am against the US government spending tax payer money for any visiting religious leader however, they have an out as he is nominally a head of state. So I’m willing to give it a pass. If the Muslims had the equivalent of a pope, and say he was head of a caliphate, we would be correct in affording him the same courtesies. Of course, I know the very people supporting the pope’s visit would scream bloody murder, especially if Oblammy were president.
Oddly, I saw no public (manufactured or otherwise) outrage when Barry Oblammo bowed while greeting the pope. Interesting…

…because, as a shrinking institution, losing followers and influence, and not having much noticable effect on public policy or spending, the Catholic church is not really seen as a threat to the good parts of the American way of life.
Islamic dictators who appear to have bought a great deal of influence withing the American government, financed 9/11, and have influenced America into a state of perpetual war, both foreign and domestic, are an enemy rather than a distraction…
…and Obammy’s actions appear more like that of a compliant lackey than as a sign of respect.
After witnessing the extravagance of the Vatican and the extreme poverty and moral corruption of every Catholic country I have been to, I feel little but disgust for the Catholic church and a great deal of pity for its followers… but I feel little threat from them either personally or nationally.
This cannot be said about the Islamic institutions which Obama snuggles up to even when they openly wish death to America and seem to have the finances and followers willing to try.
I would hope for an intelligent reply to this… either in acceptance of this answer or a rational rebuttal.

For the military retirees out there, I just took a look at the Consumer Price Index table. The numbers that count so far for July and August show a slight deflation from last year. Will have to wait for the September number to come out but it looks like there won’t be a COLA increase this year.
”Seven years of relaxed monetary policies have caused U.S. household wealth to soar, but for most Americans this tremendous accumulation of wealth has not translated into robust wage growth. The Wall Street Journal reports…”
Anyone out there experiencing this “soaring increase” in your household wealth over the past seven years?
I’m pretty sure if this were true Obama would be a lot more popular. It seems to contradict the Consumer Price index table above too. Where are they getting these figures?

How the US could reduce the deficit, reduce the debt, reduce the burden of unfunded mandates, and reduce unemployment:
1. Reduce, Disband, or Spin off the Departments of the Interior, Agriculture, Commerce, Labor, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Transportation, Energy, Education, and Homeland Security.
2. Sell off 75% of currently unused Federal Buildings. Alternately, issue 99 year leases to private companies to maintain the buildings and sub-let them to other tenants.
3. Reduce the corporate tax to the average of the G20 minus five percent.
4. Offer additional tax incentives to businesses based on the percentage of US Citizens and lawful permanent residents on their employee list.
5. Repeal the Federal and State Income taxes, institute a national sales tax of ten percent and limit State Sales Taxes to an additional ten percent.
This would dramatically increase the domestic economy, increase savings, increase sales, and more importantly decrease Federal spending. It would remove penalties on earning and on hiring Americans. And after being weaned off the taxpayer, those government departments could compete in the marketplace and those truly needed would survive.
Americans are generous people. The poor would not be neglected–and there would be more jobs since the new, lower tax rates would bring many new jobs here. It would not be “heaven on earth”; but it could be a lot closer than we’ve had for many, many years.
1. Reduce, Disband, or Spin off the Departments of the Interior, Agriculture, Commerce, Labor, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Transportation, Energy, Education, and Homeland Security.
How could you leave out the DEA? Buy stopping the unconstitutional War on Drugs, the DEA could be completely eliminated. They have no other reason to exist other than to interfere with individual rights and responsibilities of all American citizens. Although I’m certain there is room to scale back some of their programs (like handing money to corporate AG businesses and paying farmers not to grow crops, for instance) – any of those you list provide valid and important functions.
5. Repeal the Federal and State Income taxes, institute a national sales tax of ten percent and limit State Sales Taxes to an additional ten percent.
More interference in States Rights? How about simplifying the tax code by eliminating most of the deductions, which seem to benefit the corporations and the extremely rich, and lower taxes for everyone? Since we want to eliminate or scale back federal departments, the IRS could be cut to almost no more than a payment processing center with a few, unfortunately necessary, enforcers.

Welcome back, Real Leon.
1. Many government agencies are necessary and useful… in theory. They need to get their priorities straight and streamline operations… focusing on their core tasks instead of easy, glamorous, or politically-motivated areas… e.g. NASA needs to build rockets rather than fretting over climate and not every government agency needs their own armed response team.
2. Government selling assets has good and bad points. Nonetheless, with the destruction of donestic manufacturing, the slow death of retail, more entertainment/social interaction being home-based, etc., there is/will be less demand for realworld space… until the paradigm changes again.
3. Structure corporate tax to make America competitive and unnecessary to play all the money-rerouting games which currently keeps corporate tax near zero.
4. Enforce laws against illegal hiring of non-citizens for low-level jobs… and fill the void with the chronically dependent. Remove programs to hire cheaper non-citizens for skilled jobs and develop more training of Americans (assuming there is an actual shortage of qualified Americans… which does not seem to be the case).
5. Ignore the accounting lobby/tax preperation lobby/IRS bloat and smplify the tax code. Tax compatition should be encouraged between cities, states, and the federal government… as this will encourage lower taxes and more efficient use of them.
– and the biggest thing…
…stop killing small business and discouraging those who want to get ahead on their own. Encourage independence and self-sufficiency in work and lifestyle yet provide quality social programs in support of the population in areas such as infrastructure and healthcare.
Blah blah blah.

SCOTUS Chief Justice John Marshall wrote, “The power to tax is the power to destroy.” Thus, we want to take away the government’s power to tax corporations out of the country. We want to stop forcing them to hire foreigners. We want to stop allowing the Government choosing which companies win or lose.
Lower taxes and reduced grants put more money in the hands of citizens who can spend it for goods and services (helping others earn money and paying taxes), save it in the banks (that allows banks to make loans for small businesses, autos, homes), or donate it to their favorite cause (i.e., the poor, religious organizations, or universities).
BTW, DEA is part of Homeland Security. In case you weren’t taking notes. I do not think they are doing their job correctly. The leadership at the very least needs to be fired and the mid and lower level folks “encouraged” to stop the flow of illegal drugs or expect to be fired as well. The best way to win the so-called “War on Drugs” is to fight it like an actual war against the drug gangs, not Americans. No need for so many small town police to be driving MRAPs and other APCs
The Income Tax by it’s very existence is a penalty for earning. And a so-called “Progressive Tax” is insane. We need to focus on paying people to work and earn as much as possible and spend or save or invest. Paying them not to work destroys individuals, families, neighborhoods, cities, and the nation. The best way to fight the so-called “War on Poverty” is to make more jobs available and stop paying people to sit around and join gangs. Although that may sound harsh, that is the actual fact in many areas run by Democrats.
If the Departments offer such great benefits to society, they will be funded by those who want them. Much like every other business and not-for-profit. National Parks are a disgrace. Privately-owned parks are cleaner, safer, have better access for families and those with disabilities, etc. Look up “The Myth of the Commons” and the disastrous attempts at communism by the Mayflower Pilgrims. People will not work hard when they see others doing half-hearted efforts and getting paid the same or more.
Yes, I am aware the DEA falls under DHS. That doesn’t mean it could not be shut down independently of DHS…
So long as alcohol and tobacco are legal, the whole “War on Drugs” rings rather hollow. And once again, it is the government imposing restrictions on citizens. What about individual freedom and personal responsibility? The WoD’s seems to be much more dangerous to freedom than taxes. I detect cognitive dissonance.

Leon, the way to have things your way is to move to Oregon. 😛
@25, I think it depends on the type of drug. If someone wants to smoke a joint I don’t see the problem with it, but certain drugs like meth is entirely different. It leads to a lot of crime by people addicted to it and looking for money for their next hit.
26. How is that. You are about to look foolish and wrong – again (not that you will admit it). Do you ever read anything other than ROKDrop and right wing conspiracy sites?
The little information I have seen says the guy was a right wing conservative and “spiritual but not religious.” Two things about that, in America that is usually code for “believing” or claiming to believe in a Judeo-Christian god but not wanting to follow the bible (you know like most “Christians” but a bit more honest). He also allegedly said “pray for me.” You do the math…
He also apparently had serious mental issues.
If those turn out to be true, then he’s your guy.
Besides, according to the tenets of your death cult, he did these folks a kindness by speeding them on their way to their eternal reward rather than having to endure a moment longer in this earthly hell. What is your beef?
All that said, as someone who does not relish death nor wish death on others, his actions were deplorable and we need to find a way to address these issues. I know you love to use any chance to take advantage of the suffering of others to defend/advance your partisan and religious views, so go right ahead. Like your heroes the Duggars, Kim Davis, and the Duck Fuckers (to name a few), the more you push your agendas and the louder you speak, you educate everyone. No one has to tear you all down. You are doing a fine job yourselves.

Oregon Dude was mental. He wanted to belong and never fit in anywhere. Ace summed it up rather nicely.
Oregon Dude hated Christians as much as Leon does, apparently, since Leon continues to rant about wanting people to die for their beliefs. Nice classy ways to phrase it, too…

If the eyewitness accounts are correct then he was targeting Christians.
I haven’t seen his dating website profile but does anyone have confirmation on when it was submitted? There’s a real possibility it could have been constructed after the fact by trolls.

“Spiritual, not Christian” is usually code for pagan (WIccans for example are really big on saying they are spiritual but not Christian). It’s pretty obvious he targetted Christians when he’s asking them and lining them up for shooting. Doesn’t matter what he put on a dating site anyway. If I were a psycho wanted to target Christians, Christian-mingle wouldn’t be a bad way to do it.

“Are you Christian?”
“Who? Me?”
The media has explained it as if he asked someone if they were Christian, they answered that they were, he shot them in the head, he moved on to the next person and repeated the whole thing.
This makes no sense at all… yet the media keeps repeating this narrative and nobody questions it.
When being force-fed this much bullshyt about one aspect of the story, it is easy to get suspicious there might be other aspects that in no way reflect reality.

The committee’s top Democrats seized on the line of questioning, noting that Republicans would not have asked the same questions of a CEO of a for-profit company.
“Ms. Richards, I find it extremely hypocritical that Republicans criticize the salaries of Planned Parenthood officials when you have violated no laws—especially while these same Republicans completely ignore the CEOs of huge companies that are actually guilty of breaking the law,” Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) said.
“Earlier this year, Citicorp, JPMorgan, and other major banks pled guilty to manipulating currency markets and interest rates,” he continued. “They were fined more than $5 billion for their actions. Yet Citigroup’s CEO still received $13 million last year, and JPMorgan’s CEO received $20 million. These banks get extensive federal support in the form of borrowing through the Federal Reserve’s discount window and access to deposit insurance through the FDIC.”

As of Monday, the House Select Committee on Benghazi has been active for 72 weeks — surpassing the Watergate Committee’s activity in the 1970’s.
“The Benghazi Select Committee has now become one of the longest and least active congressional investigations in history,” Ranking Member Elijah Cummings, D-Maryland, wrote in a statement. “The Committee has squandered the last 16 months and more than 4.5 million taxpayer dollars dredging up political attacks to impact the 2016 presidential election — a severe misuse of taxpayer funds and Congressional power.”

Ben Carson is good for GOP High School students

Theoretical physicist Lawrence Krauss deconstructed Ben Carson’s statements on evolution and cosmology
He said Carson is “delusional” in his comments about the big bang theory, and addressed whether he and other Republican candidates like Marco Rubio are “anti-science.”
In what might be the strangest story yet about the seemingly strangest candidate in the 2016 race, the Wall Street Journal has uncovered YouTube footage from 2004 in which Ben Carson tells a group of sales associates for a dietary supplement called Mannatech that after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, he began taking the supplement and “within about three weeks my symptoms went away.” It must not have worked that well, as Carson later had surgery to remove the cancer.
It should be pointed out that Carson is a retired medical doctor and brain surgeon, and would seemingly be the last Presidential candidate to be willing to participate in such a junk-medicine pyramid scheme. However the video in question plays up his doctor credentials as a way of giving credence to the supplement in question. Watch the video of Ben Carson claiming that tree bark cured his cancer here: ~ “

Ben Carson Says Holocaust Would Have Been ‘Greatly Diminished’ if Jews Had Guns http://time.com/4067501/ben-carson-holocaust-popeyes/
“Carson recalled his Popeyes stickup experience during a Wednesday interview with Urban View host Karen Hunter. “I have had a gun held on me when I was in a Popeyes organization(sic),” said Carson. “The guy comes in, put the gun in my ribs. And I just said, ‘I believe that you want the guy behind the counter.’”
The Baltimore Police Department said it did not have enough information to confirm Carson’s story.
Carson has faced scrutiny for multiple statements about guns this week, including a recent story about a robbery in a Baltimore Popeyes
Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer that the Holocaust would have been “greatly diminished” had Jewish people in Europe been armed with guns.
“I think the likelihood of Hitler being able to accomplish his goals would have been greatly diminished if the people had been armed,” Carson said. “I’m telling you there is a reason these dictatorial people take guns first.”
According to ABC News, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) said Carson’s statements were “historically inaccurate.”
“The small number of personal firearms available to Germany’s Jews in 1938 could in no way have stopped the totalitarian power of the Nazi German state,” said ADL national director Jonathan Greenblatt.”

Ben Carson DUH on Debt Ceiling…
Carson has no clue what the debt ceiling is, but he’s sure that we should not be raising it and defaulting on our debt:
Ben Carson Struggles With Questions About The Debt Ceiling: http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/ben-carson-debt-ceiling
GOP 2016 candidate Ben Carson appeared unable to give a straight answer when asked repeatedly about whether he would raise the debt ceiling during a Marketplace interview posted Thursday.
At one point, Carson said he would urge his administration to “cut where you need to cut” when asked if he would let the government default on its debt, suggesting he didn’t understand that the debt ceiling authorizes payments on debts the government has already incurred.
When Marketplace host Kai Ryssdal first asked Carson: “As you know, Treasury Secretary Lew has come out in the last couple of days and said, we’re going to run out of money, we’re going to run out of borrowing authority on the 5th of November. Should the Congress then, and the president, not raise the debt limit? Should we default on our debt?”
“Let me put it this way. If I were the president, I would not sign an increased budget, absolutely would not do it,” Carson responded. “They would have to find a place a cut.”
Rep. Mark Takano’s (D-Calif.) staff pulled together a fake ad for “Speaker of the House” that they posted to Facebook and Twitter:
“Are you an American citizen? Do you have experience negotiating hostage situations? Are you ready for the challenge of a lifetime? Then this job is for you!” the listing reads.
His staff did a preview of the ad on Craigslist and took a screen shot, but never actually posted it, Takano’s communications director, Josh Weisz, told The Hill.
The mock ad came Thursday after Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), the favorite to replace outgoing Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), abruptly withdrew his name from consideration.

I think most of the deflation this year was the result of falling oil prices.

Russia blames Poland for starting WW2…
Someone you should know about: http://www.amazon.com/Hiding-Light-Risked-Everything-Follow-ebook/dp/B00N6PFCZO
A couple things.
Look at History.
New Leon smells like tbone when he started going this way. Must be something in the Obama Kool Aid.
Yeah, that’s cold; but Leon based his arguments on what Oregon Dude put on a dating website, so it MUST be true. Sounds totally legit. Just like Leon’s arguments that I dig the Bayou version of Orange County Choppers. Totally weird.
Oregon Dude was mental. He wanted to belong and never fit in anywhere. Ace summed it up rather nicely.
Oregon Dude hated Christians as much as Leon does, apparently, since Leon continues to rant about wanting people to die for their beliefs. Nice classy ways to phrase it, too…
Does Leon have the same mental issues? Maybe his friends here should stage an intervention for him? Maybe he needs help to stop self-medicating.
Actually, I just showed up to get comments about the Ralph Peters column in the NY Post. Is it likely Putin will try to shoot down US aircraft or drones?
29. Keep going setnaffa! 😀
If the eyewitness accounts are correct then he was targeting Christians.
I haven’t seen his dating website profile but does anyone have confirmation on when it was submitted? There’s a real possibility it could have been constructed after the fact by trolls.
My guess is he was simply a loner with mental issues. Guys like this have apparently begun calling themselves beta males and idolizing the kid that went on the rampage in California a couple years ago.
I just watched a little more on this and apparently on the dating site the guy put ‘doesn’t like organized religion’ and in his last note talked about how he would be embraced by the devil in hell. That’s the opposite of Christian. No idea what you are talking about, Leon.
“All that said, as someone who does not relish death nor wish death on others, his actions were deplorable and we need to find a way to address these issues.”
Borrowing from your bastardized version of Christian logic, why would you think that? We’re all just chemicals, and we all die. And it doesn’t mean anything so might as well speed up the process. Right?
Liz, I’m going to start using that line… LOL
BTW, turns out Oregon Dude was really born in UK… Story in the Mirror.
The media seems to be ignoring that the shooter was black.
I didn’t think he looked black in the photo.
Have they been messing with photoshop like they did for Zimmerman?
I don’t know why this guy felt like he had to line up Christians and shoot them to be embraced by satan in hell.
He could have just voted for Hillary or something.
The part of this shooting story that doesn’t hold up goes like this…
“Are you Christian?”
“Yes.”
BANG
“Are you Christian?”
“No way.”
“Are you Christian?”
“Absolutely not.”
…at least for me.
I cannot speak for the other 300,000,000 Americans who seem to eat up media nonsense on a daily basis.
I’m sure it’s going to be hard to get the real straight story from witnesses anyway.
Eyewitness testimony is usually notoriously inaccurate even under the best of circumstances, and this wouldn’t be more of the more reliable type of scenarios.

“One terrorist group is responsible for more civilian deaths since December 2012 (the Sandy Hook massacre) than Al Qaeda, Boko Haram, Hamas and the Taliban. Yet it is the only nearly-state sponsored terrorist group that is not listed by the U.S. State Department as such.
It is the National Rifle Association and for their unending lobbying that’s kept a lid on gun control we now have 428 times more American deaths by gun than deaths by foreign terrorists…

Elijah Cummings Destroys Republicans For Attacking Innocent Planned Parenthood ~ And Not Criminal Multi-Million-Dollar Companies

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxIYZuaY8KE&feature=youtu.be
The committee’s top Democrats seized on the line of questioning, noting that Republicans would not have asked the same questions of a CEO of a for-profit company.
GOP and Benghazi Update

House Benghazi Probe Longer than Watergate
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/house-benghazi-probe-longer-watergate/story?id=34105976
“The House committee investigating the Benghazi attacks is now longer than the congressional investigation into the Watergate scandal, committee Democrats said earlier this week.

Ben Carson Once Claimed Tree Bark Cured Him Of Prostate Cancer
According to the Wall Street Journal, Ben Carson consulted with a medical supplement company that faced a legal challenge when he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
http://www.dailynewsbin.com/news/ben-carson-caught-on-video-claiming-his-prostate-cancer-was-cured-by-tree-bark-supplement/22733/#utm_source=feedly&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=ben-carson-caught-on-video-claiming-his-prostate-cancer-was-cured-by-tree-bark-supplement
“Even as Dr. Ben Carson touts his medical expertise as a qualification in his candidacy for President, he may have to explain why he once claimed that his prostate cancer had been cured by a junk science supplement consisting of aloe vera and tree bark. Carson, who has rejected most modern scientific principles during his campaign as he’s rejected climate change and other basics, has been caught on video making the claims as part of a pyramid scheme promoting the supplement.

“During a Facebook Q&As Monday night, Ben Carson weighed in on the Oregon shooting saying that he had operated on victims of gun violence “but I never saw a body with bullet holes that was more devastating than taking the right to arm ourselves away.”
…Cason was asked whether the tragedy had altered his position on the Second Amendment and the Republican Presidential hopeful suggested new gun-control laws wouldn’t solve the problem, then went on to accuse Democrats of “us[ing] these tragedies to advance a political agenda.”

Ben Carson Says Holocaust Would Have Been ‘Greatly Diminished’ if Jews Had Guns
http://time.com/4067501/ben-carson-holocaust-popeyes/
Ben Carson Struggles With Questions About The Debt Ceiling:
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/ben-carson-debt-ceiling
Ryssdal repeated variations of the question two more times, clarifying that he was asking about increasing the debt limit, not the budget: “But I want to make sure I understand you. You’d let the United States default rather than raise the debt limit?”

GOP Job posted by Dem
Dem draws up Craigslist ad for Speaker
http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/256440-dem-takes-out-craigslist-ad-for-speaker
A Democratic lawmaker on Thursday lampooned House Republicans for struggling to find a new Speaker, creating a mock Craigslist ad to fill the position.
Another Democratic voice, David Axelrod, the former White House senior adviser to President Obama, suggested on Twitter that Republicans take out a Craigslist ad.
