A customer shops for Lotte Chilsung Beverage Co.’s soju, a distilled beverage made of ethanol and water, at a giant retailer in Seoul on Jan. 4, 2016. Lotte, the maker of one of the top soju brands in the country, raised the price of its soju by an average 5.54 percent starting on the day, following suit of its rival Hite Jinro. With the hike, the factory price of the liquor passed the 1,000 won level per a bottle of 360 milliliters. (Yonhap)

Not to date myself but I remember when soju was just W200 per bottle and the only good stuff came from Jinro in those adorable little glass bottles.
I think in the 80’s a small bottle of Jinro was about 100 won. Wish I would have saved one of the glass combat bottles they used to make.
I stopped drinking soju when they found it contained high levels of dihydrogen monoxide.
Vodka has a much lower content of that alcohol contaminant.
I have heard it’s very dangerous when vaporized, capable of causing 3rd degree burns.
@ #3, “I stopped drinking soju when they found it contained high levels of dihydrogen monoxide.”
CORRECTION: “I stopped drinking soju when I found it drove me crazy…till my life’s end” 😆
We already know you’re a lunatic for life EGGHEAD ❗
You’re right, Johnnyboy! And it can even cause severe skin damage when in the solid form!

In the very early ’80s you could get three of the small bottles for about a $1 and the exchange rate was around 700. So probably the cheapest it ever was during that time was around 200 won per bottle. The gov’t controled the price, so it was pretty much the same price wherever you bought it.
