US Military Family Among the Wounded From Brussels Terror Attack
|Considering how authorities have been scouring Brussels for terror suspects ever since the Paris terror attacks you would think it would be hard for these guys to execute such attack. Fortunately this US military family was not killed by this latest terror attack in Europe. I hope they have a speedy recovery from their injuries:
A U.S. airman and his family were among the scores wounded in a series of bombings in Brussels Tuesday claimed by the Islamic State group that killed more than 30 people, prompting a temporary travel restriction to the country for all American forces, U.S. military officials said.
The airman, assigned to Joint Force Command Brunssum, Netherlands, was injured at Brussels’ international airport, the Air Force said in a statement. The Airman, who the Associated Press reported was a lieutenant colonel, “sustained various injuries,” the statement said. [Stars & Stripes]

Wonder why none of those moderate peaceful muslim didn’t turn these guys in, oh, i know why; there are no moderate muslims, they are all muslims wanting islam to rule the world.
Flyingsword, it’s sad but true… 🙁
Should we then oust all muslims from our military? 🙄
Probably not, but it might not be a bad idea to put them under a little extra scrutiny.
It seems the European branch of ISIS is now openly campaigning for Donald Trump.
Illegal Alien Latino Raapist for Trump needs to target more children of color instead of non-newsworthy white women.
And of course Manufacturing Companies for Trump should follow Carrier’s lead and not wait until after the election to ship those jobs overseas.
Other Candidates for Trump need to keep pushing open borders, amnesty, and lopsided trade agreements… but they are already doing their best.
JoeC,
Your idea of kicking Muslims out of our military would make sense if they were like this guy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_v._Hasan_K._Akbar
Or if they were like this guy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nidal_Hasan
Or even if they were like this guy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naser_Jason_Abdo
But those were all “lone wolves”. It’s all just normal “workplace violence”. “Unrelated incidents”. Just ask any Democrat running for President…

Yes … I agree… I think … At least on your point on “lone wolves.”
Flying sword , @1 said, “Wonder why none of those moderate peaceful muslim didn’t turn these guys in.” There are answers to that. When you drill down into it, some have pointed out key differences between the muslim populations in the U.S. and Europe. They say U.S. muslims are much more assimilated.
When you look at the ISIS inspired attacks in the U.S., they are generally individuals who self radicalize over the internet; “lone wolves.” The U.S. ISIS inspired attackers became isolated from their friends and family. Often they have to drop out or are ostracized from their mosques because of their overly radical views. But in Europe, muslims are much less assimilated. The live in ghettoes as outsiders. If you understand the sociology of ghettos you will know they create their own institutions for things like finances and security because they don’t trust the establishments’ institutions; banks and police. They tend to start relying on their criminal elements to provide that.
When you look into the backgrounds of most of these European attackers, almost all have criminal histories. So, even within those unassimilated ghettoes these radicals tend to be the worst of the worst looking for some way to redeem or elevate themselves. They become ISIS inspired attackers with community support. They can easily create cells of terrorists.
Former Gen. Michael Hayden, someone who I’ve often disagreed with in his professional career, has been much more in line with my way of thinking since he retired. (Disclosure: He was my last commander when I retired). Over the past day he’s been on the news talk show circuit saying variations of this,
One sure way to create radicalized muslim communities in the U.S. is to start ostracizing them and isolating them in ghettoes.
I could agree that there probably aren’t entire radicalized communities within the US, but I think there are entire communities who won’t turn in radicalized members, even when there is more than enough warning signs to indicate they are preparing for terror attacks. Tell me no one in the family knew what the San Bernardino shooters were planning.
I regard most religions as flawed views on life in way or another, however, I would argue that Islam seems to have far fewer redeeming qualities than any other in the world at this point. I think its followers are far more likely to remain loyal to — if not complicit in the actions of — fellow followers who kill others in the name of their religion.
Cruz’s comments, though possibly correct in their intent, probably suggest something largely ineffective. Policing Muslim communities within the US in the form of beat cops probably won’t turn up as many would-be terrorists as earnest intelligence and surveillance could. Of course, the surest solution to the Muslim problem is to not import more of the community to be policed or surveilled in the first place.
Within the US there is a near absolute right to freedom of religion. The people of the United States have no obligation to take in people from other countries practicing their freedom of religion or adherence to their broken cultures. The government has a responsibility to screen out those who are incapable of assimilating into our culture. The fact that we have up until now been somewhat more effective at keeping them out (or at least not as convenient a travel location) as Europe is probably what has spared us from the large-scale terror attacks that have become semi-frequent for them.
We have to start being realistic. It would be nice if everyone from everywhere could come here and all of us get along. It’s just not possible. Some cultures will never be compatible to our way of life. Though I know our culture is far from perfect, I shutter to think of a day when those cultures would be accepted here to the detriment of our societal norms and our standards of common human decency.
From what I understand, South Korea hasn’t permitted immigrants from majority Muslim countries for quite some time now and it seems to be working well for them. CH, please correct me if I am wrong and provide more details if necessary. Really, do tell me if I’m wrong.
There you have my solution, JoeC. Could I respectfully ask for yours?
Joe, you wrote”One sure way to create radicalized Muslim communities in the U.S. is to start ostracizing them and isolating them in ghettos.”
Who, exactly, do you think puts immigrants of any flavor into “ghettos”? Or anyone else for that matter? People tend to hang out with people like them. And Muslims who have not assimilated are not the most warm and friendly folks on the planet. They’re as insular as anyone else you could name.
This is, of course, because of Democrat policies. Now, before you throw the baby out with the bathwater, consider immigration before and after the changes made by LBJ (the Hart-Celler Act was sold under false pretenses, much like ACA) , you can see that the current, practically unrestrained flow of legal and illegal immigrants is being funneled into isolated communities to make them easier targets for politicization.
@JoeC, I totally agree that assimilation is better in the US, but that is changing because of letting huge numbers of refugees and people just walking across the border in. These large number of refugees and illegal immigrants settle together in their own neighborhoods which prevents the assimilation that would happen with a more stringent immigration system.
A perfect example of the problems from refugees can be found in my home state of Colorado where a number of Somali refugees resettled in the small town of Fort Morgan. They have created their own ghetto enclave and are having trouble assimilating with the local community:
The Somalis isolated themselves from the community which probably makes sense when a large number of people with no English language or American social skills is allowed into the country all at once. The Somalis were given jobs at the Cargill meat packing plant who then had to fire a large number of them because of the religious demands they were making:
This business was offering to let them rotate to pray, but instead they wanted all of them to leave their shift at once which would shutdown the production line. Now they have a discrimination lawsuit against them which will likely only further alienate the Somalis in the town considering they want special treatment at work. How many other communities in the US are facing assimilation problems like the one Fort Morgan is facing from allowing in a large number of unassimilated refugees and people are advocating we bring in tens of thousands of more refugees?
If we had a stringent immigration system that forced people to learn English, basic history, US government, American laws, etc. and then be tested on it this would force people to become more assimilated before they even reached the US. If the refugees in Fort Morgan could speak English and understood basic laws and societal norms the problems at the Cargill plant and social isolation in the community probably could have been avoided.
Having [insert group here] alienated from “normal” folks meets the needs of the so-called “Progressives” who want to fundamentally change America away from freedom to serfdom.
It’s in their playbook.
It’s what Orwell wrote about in Animal Farm.
It’s what Schwarz wrote about in You Can Trust The Communists.
It’s what Rand wrote about in just about everything from Anthem and Atlas Shrugged…
Remember this: the wolves are at the door again. And we cannot domesticate them. The people running the scam hate America, even the idea of America. They hate people who hold values other than than their “manifesto du jour”… And when they’re done using the Muslims they’ll drop them just like they did the blacks.
Including each other… Look at how they typically turn on themselves.
Don’t place your faith in governments, armies, or charismatic leaders.
