Thai is a nation, not a race.
Technically, “her family” didn’t fight in the Revolution any more than my family grew rice for a thousand years.
She married into that and, had she been a white Republican man, no pearl would have remained unclutched as the massed screamed Cultural Appropriation and demanded a full appology.
The guy’s response was clever… but not delivered in a clever way… a perfect example of the anger and hate in politics.
Reagan could have delivered the same line with a gentle voice, a smile, and no trace of sarcasm… and gotten applause.
In the end, more manufactured racism and double standards for men/women, white/brown, liberal/conservative, etc.
Extremely racist because the guy who said it is a Republican.

Says a lot for that company when their lead guy doesn’t even know the definition of racist. Unless he’s actually their Senior Analist. I’d buy that.

The comment may not have been racist, but it sure was one of the most awkward things I have seen in a debate before.
Repubs never have been good with comedy; a quick look at the primetime political comedy show lineup confirms it.
I’m good with that though because “how good of a clown are you” shouldn’t be a factor in your ability to hold a government position.
Unfortunately too many Americans can’t tell the difference between a good joke and a good point.
