Chang Hye-jin, a double Olympic gold medalist in archery, speaks after being named South Korea’s top female athlete of the year during a ceremony at a Seoul hotel on Nov. 29, 2016. (Yonhap)
@Chickenhead, here is the Wikipedia definition of athlete:
An athlete (American and British English) or sportsman (British English) is a person who competes in one or more sports that involve physical strength, speed and/or endurance. The term’s application to those who participate in other activities, such as horse riding or driving, is somewhat controversial.
Archery requires a high amount of skill and is a sporting event. However, I don’t think it involves much physical strength. I guess an argument could be made it does require some strength to be able to repeatedly pull the bow string back and forth to practice enough to become as skilled as she is.

When this guy does archery, it’s pretty athletic.
🙂
Even the Wikipedia definition says “athlete or sportsman.” Not all athletes are sportsmen and visa versa. Some athletes don’t entertain an audience or compete for awards but require a high level of athletic skill and training; elite rock climbers for example.

Archery is not athletics.

There seems to be a little confusion; the definition of what these people actually are follows:
A person whose job is to entertain others.
There is no actual objective to sports other than to entertain. It provides nothing but entertainment.
