President Park Denies All Allegations of Wrong Doing and Corruption
|It looks like if the ROK authorities want to prove President Park Geun-hye committed corruption they better find the evidence because she is not admitting to any wrong doing; likewise in regards to her actions during the Sewol ferry boat disaster:
President Park Geun-hye denied, Sunday, all allegations leveled against her regarding her mysterious whereabouts during the sinking of the Sewol and the corruption and influence-peddling scandal involving her confidant Choi Soon-sil.
Park held an unscheduled press conference at Cheong Wa Dae _ her first public appearance since she was impeached, Dec. 9 _ and she used the 50-minute meeting to dismiss allegations surrounding her as “unfair and absurd.”
Park stressed that she was on “normal duty” on the day of the Sewol sinking on April 16, 2014, dismissing allegations of her unknown whereabouts for seven hours as groundless rumors.
“First it was reported that I was having an affair with someone, and then I was engaged in an exorcism ritual. Then it was about me undergoing cosmetic surgery. It was utterly, utterly senseless,” she said.
“I’m sure to say that I was receiving reports on the tragic accident and keeping an eye on it as usual routine.”
She continued, “I ordered that rescuers should not miss any single person left behind through a thorough rescue operation, but then there was a report saying all have been rescued, which made me feel relieved. After it turned out to be false, I intended to head to the emergency measures headquarters immediately. But the security team delayed it. I rushed to the place as soon as everything was ready. I think I did whatever I had to do.”
Park denied the allegation that she had a beauty treatment on the day, saying, “It is totally not true. It is impossible to happen even from a commonsense point of view.”
She added that she did not meet anyone from outside Cheong Wa Dae except a hairdresser and someone who brought medicine for her neck.
She reiterated that she did not seek any personal interest or favor certain companies or figures, refuting charges of collusion with Choi, who is accused of having illegitimately meddled in state affairs and extorting tens of millions of dollars from conglomerates.
She repudiated the bribery allegations that Samsung made a large sum of donations to the two foundations controlled by Choi in return for the presidential office’s support of the conglomerate’s controversial merger of two Samsung units _ Samsung C&T and Cheil Industries. [Korea Times]

Other than her friendship link with Choi Soon Shil who is undoubtedly corrupt (which I’m already aware), what other proof is there that Park herself was corrupt? Just asking if anyone knows.
It looks like Chung is going with the “I know nothing” defense:

But as Tyson asked above, I’m still not seeing what exactly President Park herself did. Choi did some shady stuff, that’s obvious. That Choi’s daughter is about as bright as a 5 watt bulb is also obvious.
I’m waiting to see what Choi had Park say or do that ties her in with some of Choi’s crimes. So far it’s looking like Choi used the “Do you know who I am? Do you know who I’m connected to?” form of convincing those big firms to kick Choi money.
Hanjin Shipping is the one that could sink Park, if Park herself had anything to do with the company not getting another loan to cover expenses.
@MTB Rider / @Tyson, that is why I think they have been trying so hard to find Chung. If they threaten to throw Chung in jail for a long time they are probably hoping it will get Choi to crack and testify against Park. The fact they have to rely on this could be an indication they have no evidence against Park.
The only evidence of wrong doing from Park I have seen so far is the passing of classified information to Choi when she was reviewing speeches for Park. What she passed was no where near as bad as Hillary. It will be interesting to see what the Supreme Court judges say about this because you would think they would want hard evidence to approve the impeachment for corruption.
It’s interesting to watch this play out. As I’ve seen in the past, the normal routine when someone is sucked into the Korean legal system is to apologize, throw oneself at the mercy of the court, give apology money to victims, etc. Park and Choi did a little apologizing at the beginning then went into more of an American mode of denying everything and making the state prove it’s case which has everyone else in ROK going kitty bonkers!
Nothing more than invention of north Korean agents and left wing agitators. Meanwhile the opposition party is bowing to China ready to make Korea a vassal state again.
Same folks as those who threw Lee Sun Shin into prison.
It’s almost ironic to think that Clinton will end up saving Park.
Nothing happens in a vacuum. In my mind, the Korean judges will take into account impeachment / indictment precedents set in America. Bill Clinton was caught lying about his extramarital affairs but he was eventually exonerated. His wife used an unsecured server and her foundation was guilty of conflict of interests, at minimum. Again, nothing.
I don’t really care about Korean politics, but I hate the candle crowd. I hate mob rules in general.
