I used to joke that South Korea was a “Small Island Nation” with my bicycling buddies. You couldn’t get completely lost, since there was water to the East, South and West, and the DMZ was as impassable as the oceans. No matter which way you go, you’re always going to be in South Korea.
But yeah. The Rolling Stone isn’t exactly Stratfor or Foreign Affairs.
I can remember people I knew back in my hometown telling me to have a great time in the islands when I told them I had orders to Korea. I think people confuse Korea with Japan and Taiwan.
