Let’s see…
One of the Big Six majors (Columbia) is owned by Sony. Two of the mini-majors (Open Road Films and Amblin Partners) have Chinese ownership.
If anyone was all hot in the azz to fork over 20 bucks to see Asians do something other than Kung Fu, the infrastructure certainly exists.
Don’t blame whitey. Blame Asian greed.
Pretty easy to spot the garbage when they start the title off with a weasel-word lending to clickbait.
Saying “it’s just a movie” is wrong but not for the reasons they state. A more precise way to put it is “it’s a product, owned by someone who can do whatever they wish with it”.
This product is not a government effort to tell citizens how to do anything, it’s a privately owned story to entertain. The owner is under no public requirement to cast any particular person in any role. Why there’s this ongoing ignorance of private vs. public ownership and responsibility is beyond me. As much as I haaaattteee Hollywood they can do whatever the F they want with their movies, and deal with the box offices as a result, good or bad.
If you rely on the entertainment industry as a pillar of community standards your head is F’ed and you need to be a casualty in the first wave of the zombie hoards when they come, which is soon I hope. 😡
It costs $20 to go to the movies these days?! Ridiculous.
Apparently Gizmodo doesn’t understand what “acting” involves. Stuff like pretending to be some9ne you’re not.
Sorry to alarm you but the zombie hordes will be the Millenials when the last Boomers and GenXers retire.
Ah no not those kind of zombies, the cool ones that walk slow and feast upon the dim and fat. 😯
I think it’s quite amusing that in the eyes of American racialists, bunch of Koreans, Vietnamese, Filipinos, and other non Japanese Asians will be mortified over Hollywood replacing a Japanese lead with a white actress more familiar to Asian audiences than GITS or many other anime / manga.
Well, that’d solve the trigglypuff question.
