Korean Prosecutors to Seek Arrest Warrant for Former President Park Geun-hye
|I have yet to see any solid evidence that former President Park was trying to shake down people for money like her friend Choi Soon-shil was apparently doing. Despite the lack of evidence it is pretty clear that the Korean left just wants to see Park dragged into a courtroom. I guess we will see what happens, maybe the prosecutors have some hard evidence they have not released:
South Korean prosecutors said Monday they will request an arrest warrant for former President Park Geun-hye over a string of corruption allegations that led to her removal from office.
Park faces charges of bribery, abuse of power, coercion and leaking government secrets in connection with a scandal involving her longtime friend Choi Soon-sil.
Park went through a marathon interrogation over the suspicions last week after the Constitutional Court upheld the National Assembly’s decision to dismiss her on March 10.
If the Seoul Central District Court issues the warrant, Park will become the country’s third former president to be arrested for criminal allegations following Roh Tae-woo and Chun Doo-hwan. [Yonhap]
I hope the government is acting according to the law and not the roar of a bloodthirsty cloud.
Sorry… *crowd* not *cloud*…
@325 , crowd rule has been something done in the past that has usually targeted USFK. For example the soldiers involved in the 1995 subway brawl who defended the wife of a USFK soldier who was assaulted by a Korean man on the subway.
There is also the 2000 water dumping incident where a USFK mortician was sentenced to six months in jail due to a Korean man dumping 20 gallons of formaldehyde down the sink that was processed through two water treatment plants while huge environmental polluters receive no punishment.
Probably the worst example of mob rule against USFK was when three USFK soldiers were kidnapped off of a subway and forced to make false confessions on national TV in the middle of a sports stadium. After being rescued by police they were the ones treated as the criminals for being falsely depicted as starting a subway fight when in fact they were the ones assaulted.
Mob rule almost took out another Korean President with the 2008 mad cow nonsense that was all based on lies. The mob rule worked against President Park because there was some truth to the accusations because the shadiness of Choi Soon-shil on top of the Sewol tragedy which the Korean left has been able to successfully pin on Park.
Many on the Korean left blame the Korean right for the suicide of former President Roh for exposing his corruption. They are also still upset about the Korean right denigrating the legacy of Kim Dae-jung for exposing his corruption as well. Taking out Park is political payback that the mob wanted and they got it. If they get her thrown in jail that is even better.
Agreed. I just hope the folks wake up before Nork tanks are rolling (by invitation) through Itaewon…
