Trump Announces Changes to National Security Council, Bannon out; Joint Chiefs Chairman Back In
|That didn’t take long for LTG McMaster to shakeup the National Security Council and oust Bannon:
President Donald Trump reorganized his National Security Council on Wednesday, removing his chief strategist, Stephen Bannon, and downgrading the role of his Homeland Security Adviser, Tom Bossert, according to a person familiar with the decision and a regulatory filing.
National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster was given responsibility for setting the agenda for meetings of the NSC or the Homeland Security Council, and was authorized to delegate that authority to Bossert, at his discretion, according to the filing.
Under the move, the national intelligence director, Dan Coats, and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Marine Corps General Joseph Dunford, are again “regular attendees” of the NSC’s principals committee. [Bloomberg]

Last week, SecDef Mattis said Iran was our greatest threat. This week he said North Korea was our greatest threat. Today, the President said he’s changed his view on Syria which had been to pretty much leave them to kill each other off. We also see where there President’s son-in-law seems to be given more in charge of foreign policy that the SecState.
The National Security Advisor is supposed to help the President coordinate and prioritize national security issues, and also help the entire administration have a coherent and consistent national security message. I don’t see it yet.
Besides what our UN ambassador about the US prepared to act alone, we seem to be lining up a whole lot of enemies while at the same time alienating all of our traditional allies.
Who do we shoot first and who’s got our back?
Just days after Nikki Haley declares that the U.S. is no longer interested in removing Assad from power, there are vicious chemical attacks unleashed on children, women and men in Syria.
I don’t necessarily believe that the chemical attacks were launched by Assad. It just wouldn’t make sense for him to jeopardize the position that he is in at the moment.
I don’t necessarily believe Trump believes they were launched by Assad either. This seems more like Trump used an opportunity to send a message to many different people all at once. It is regretful that it was by attacking a sovereign nation without producing proof that they actually used chemical weapons on their own people. Luckily, at this point, it looks like loss of life was either minimal or avoided altogether.
My fear is that the warmongers will now believe that they had a great deal of influence in this decision. They may have, but I hope that isn’t the case.
Sarin doesn’t explode against civilians without preparation and the attacks came from SU-22-class aircraft not in any rebel group’s inventory.
Trump made a good choice, few human casualties and no more ability to deliver chemical weapons from that airbase. Or the three missing squadrons.
Has the chemical agent been definitively identified as sarin?
Were the chemicals proven to be dispersed via aircraft?
Notice how the news isn’t really asking questions on this, Setnaffa?
