Hold your horses. Trump just demanded South Korea pay for THAAD, and S.Korea renegotiate FTA with the US for more favorable terms for the US.
Koreans really not happy with the US right now. They want the US to take the thing back.
Trump wants $1 billion from South Korea, for THAAD, and has promised to renegotiate the FTA with South Korea. It looks like Trump is on China’s side.

South Korea will pay for part of THAAD.
South Korea will renegotiate the FTA.
South Korea will not pay for all of THAAD and the renegotiated FTA will still have some benefits.
South Korea will declare victory in the negotiations and point out that Japanese textbooks say Dokdo is Japanese.
The world needs to understand the free ride is over.
US is not going to sell THAAD to South Korea. What is South Korea paying $1 billion for then? Shouldn’t all this cost issue have been all worked out with South Korea before this thing went in?
It’s been a loooooong time coming too. Time for Koreans in particular to get off the (mostly, might as well be) free bus.
They will also point out that there is no Sea of Japan, despite most disagreeing with them.
Apparently you know all this from CNBC? And they know everything, right?
