Went there once during the off-season, nothing special. I preferred going to Gangneung, specifically Songjeong Beach which is the one just south of the horribly crowded overpriced mess that is Gyeongpo Beach. You can actually park, there is just enough retail without it being overbearing, and the northern stretch is 100% free of the a-hole Umbrella Brigade. 🙂
If you want to go native you can always go further south to Deungmyeong Beach which is a military beach that’s open for public use during daylight hours. It’s hidden in-between the North Korean Spy Sub (to the north) and the incredibly disappointing Jeongdong Beach that has the cruise ship on top of the hill (to the south). Stay away from Jeongdong, I’d rather have to go to Gyeongpo than that place. 😡
That water is COLD!!!
