Representative Duncan Hunter Recommends A Preventative Strike on North Korea

Here is the latest opinion on what to do about North Korea:

U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., listens to testimony at a House Committee on Armed Services hearing on Capitol Hill in Washington on on , Sept. 7, 2017. Hunter said Thursday, Sept. 21, that the United States should preemptively strike North Korea.

Rep. Duncan Hunter said that the United States needs to launch a preemptive strike against North Korea in order to prevent the rogue nation from harming the U.S. first.

“You could assume, right now, that we have a nuclear missile aimed at the United States, and here in San Diego. Why would they not aim here, at Hawaii, Guam, our major naval bases?” Hunter, a California Republican, said during an appearance on San Diego’s KUSI television station Thursday.

“The question is, do you wait for one of those? Or, two? Do you pre-emptively strike them? And that’s what the president has to wrestle with. I would pre-emptively strike them. You could call it declaring war, call it whatever you want,” Hunter continued.  [Stars & Stripes]

That is nice thinking. Now, let’s look at reality.

1. Korea had decades to manage this. They enabled it. The hawks have no pity for South Korea.

2. China encouraged it. They can deal with refugees.

3. Russia and Japan ignored it. They can continue to ignore it.

4. Poor American leadership allowed it. Weak globalization-happy America Last leadership is over.

5. It is now to the point NK is very close to having the technology and equipment to attack America… in such a way it will change society beyond what 9/11 did.

6. NK keeps claiming they have the ability and will to attack America… and a plan to do it.

7. A country has the moral high ground when preemptively striking to stop a nuclear attack.

8. America First means what happens in Seoul is unfortunate but acceptable collateral damage to prevent a nuclear strike on America.

9. A preemptive strike that cripples but does not lead to regime change gives the choice of retaliation with regime change… or settling the hell down.

10. Again… it is NOT ACCEPTABLE to allow North Korea to use a nuclear threat to get its way… or every other country will follow that successful strategy… and the world will be much more dangerous. A nuclear threat must be destroyed immediately as a lesson to others.

Bonus: If this (seemingly bullshyt) Russia and Trump Worked Together investigation finds some tiny unrelated scandal in Trump’s past… which they are frantically looking for… which partisan politicians try to leverage into impeachment, the typical presidential response is to start military action. That rallies Americans, refocuses attention, and takes the news cycle away from the wolves.
