US Army Officer Gets Emotional About His Family’s Safety in South Korea
|The below video is from an interview that CNN’s Brooke Baldwin did with a US Army Lieutenant Colonel who get emotional talking about his family’s safety in South Korea:
I can understand why this officer got emotional talking about his family’s safety, but this is probably not the best image for the US Army to put forward. Â It seems to me that if he is so fearful for his family’s safety he should of did an unaccompanied tour to Korea.
I can’t believe what I just saw …
I can understand a junior soldier who hasn’t been in the military very long getting emotional about his family. But a battalion commander?? A phucking battalion commander crying on national tv?
I swear up and down, if I ever bump into this guy on Yongsan, I am going to tell him straight to his face that he’s a pussy.
And on a side note – since when does a battalion commander get to go home from 2ID every weekend? My oh my … things have changed. Used to be you got to go home MAYBE once a month if you were lucky.
They should interview the soldiers here that are unaccompanied and had to leave their families in bad parts of Detroit or Chicago. Now that might be something to cry about, lol.
I’m sure CNN loved this.
The interviewer probably had an orgasm thinking about what this will do for her career.
Seriously? I was in Area 1 with my wife and kids when the NorKs sank the Cheonan. Civilian, no weapon, Emergency Essential. Had to stay, even if the family was evacuated.
My advice to the LtCol? Sack Up. Sack the F Up.
I guess the Hooches are shut down again? My son was friends with one of the previous Col’s son, and his entire family was living on post at Casey. Other folks I knew we’re there with wife and kids, even a new born baby.
Also, Casey K-8 DoDDS, with hundreds of kiddos attending class, wandering through Bosan-dong, and generally getting underfoot.
Sack the F Up!
His family lives in one of the places over by 121 Hospital on Yongsan South Post. In other words, they have it about as good as it gets for military housing in Korea.
There’s probably a lot going on in this guy’s life.
He might have family issues, or whatever, for all we know.
The problem is, the liberal media likes to portray service members as objects of pity. It works to their advantage.
Ridiculous story that adds to the fallacy of life in Korea on the whole and for US SM’es there.
As for a commander leaving on the weekend that’s the quo man. At Camp Colbern there was a daily parade of E7’s and up heading out the gate at 1630 every day to head to their homes in Yongsan; granted Colbern was closer to Yongsan but when we closed it down and moved to Stanley the parade was watered down to happening on Friday’s but they all rolled out. Only time I think I ever saw officers on time for and actually driving in a convoy. đŸ˜›
Which makes me wonder … why in the world did the 2ID Public Affairs Office allow this video to get publicized? I can only assume that CNN got permission to shoot this and no follow up was required regarding what they planned to actually make public.
This is the funniest thing I’ve seen all week. All month maybe.
And this LTC was granted permission to cry like a little b**** on international media?
@Guitard, apparently the PAO loved this interview because they posted it on the USFK Facebook page.
Doesn’t surprise me at all.
The desires of the PA office aren’t always what’s best.
Case in point, they love Facebook.
Has the appearance/talk/mannerisms of a typical wealthy New England aristocrat. Surprised his last name isn’t Kennedy.
Officers from New England in Korea. Life imitates art.
