I am asking this only because I was not in the Army, so please all you Army and ex-Army types out there don’t give me too much crap. What are those devices on top of their helmets? I assume they’re some kind of night vision system or something that allows them to see while keeping their head low. Please enlighten this retired Navy guy who was never in combat.
Tatum, yep, night vision. They flip down when in use (think baseball outfielder flip shades)
@TAGUM CITY TIM
I wasn’t Army either but I recognize them as night vision light amplifiers. The lens flip down in front of the eyes.
BTW … Could you imagine telling our special operators to dress up in their combat gear and parade their special ops equipment down Pennsylvania Avenue? 🙄
Our Spec Ops guys would tell the President where to go. Those Parasite men have no choice.
Flying Sword – Thanks for that explanation. They just looked a little strange to me sitting up so high on the helmet like that. Guess I have just never seen them in the stowed position.
JoeC – Don’t look now but Trump is planning a military parade if he can get DOD to buy off on it.

When they flip the night vision down, where do the sunglasses go?
Or do they have the brightness setting turned up so they maintian the cool?
Nobody gave Obama shit when we put on military parades for a show of force in countries bordering Russia. That was just reassuring allies. Trump’s parade on US soil will be threatening to other nations and risking a war.
I don’t hear anybody shitting on the French for Bastille Day celebrations including a military parade. The media can make fun of Trump, but not the inspiration for his proposal.
Unrelated: John Kelly is going to step down any day now.
Rex Tillerson has been going to step down any day now for the past 4 or 5 months if I recall correctly.
