Fake news since it’s CNN?
Given this is sourced by CNN, and is timed to coincide with China releasing details on Japanese war crimes and one of Moon’s subordinates chatting gaily about sending the US packing, South Koreans SHOULD fear a US attack on north Korean missile and nuclear sites. And probable a lot of the command and control infrastructure, too.
If South Korea chooses to separate itself from the US and Japan, they will have to negotiate with Beijing and their puppet regime in Pyongyang without any assistance. And their concerns will not be included in US/Japan defense plans, either; again, by their own choice…
I think the ROK needs to draw closer to the US and Japan if they expect to persuade the US not to attack the North Koreans… And to use their contacts with the North Koreans to avoid crossing any of America’s “red lines”…
But it’s their choice…
Trump is a wuss. He will not order a pre-emptive strike on the DPRK.
Rocky, Rocky, Rocky.
“Trump is a wuss. He will not order a pre-emptive strike on the DPRK.”
I agree.
It will be retaliation.
Yes, of course Trump will order a counter-strike if the north Koreans strike the ROK, Japan, Guam, etc.. He is a counter-puncher. But he is also wuss and will not order a pre-emptive strike.
Remember the Maine, ROKMARINE, remember the Maine.
And also remember the Tonkin Gulf… 😯
Remember when folks on this site said Trump would strike NK? lol
Do it now, while 3ID is on location. Get some payback for the Chosen Reservoir. Revenge is a dish best served in the cold.
Having served a 13 month long tour of duty in Korea in 1968-69 just after the capture of the USS Pueblo, I have a few words to say on this matter. I served as a Infantry soldier, by choice, during the Vietnam Era time period. I spent 5 1/2 months straight on and mostly inside the DMZ, from late July ’68 to early Jan.’69, then I spend almost 3 more months guarding “Freedom Bridge” and the Imjim River positions east and west of the bridge. In the summer, Korea gets hot…the upper 90’s to low 100’s. The winter of ’68-’69 was extremely cold…since they would not allow any thermometers north of the Imjim River we relied on the piss test……..if it froze before it hit the ground, it had to be close to – 30 F. Many a night it froze that fast. When a cup of steaming hot coffee freezes solid in less than 5 minutes…it’s cold. Two nights in a row we were “advised” that the temp was expected to drop to – 40 F, with winds from the north close to 50 MPH. Chill factor was to be – 85 F. Now baby, that is cold, even if you are NOT in a foxhole from 3 PM to 9 AM the next morning without any protection from the weather other than what you are wearing standing guard duty! North Korea they say gets even colder!! So, based on my personal experiences, I would say if I want to fight a land battle against North Korea, and that is what we need to be talking about, I would aim for June-July so that the monsoon rains are over and the ground is somewhat dried out. If you wait until September after the rice harvest, ground conditions are even better, but the Korean winter can start as early as late October, and by December it is brutal. In 1968-69 the Imjim River, (which now has 2 concrete bridges over it and which of course could be blown into the water within minutes of a order to blow them) which is a natural barrier, froze to the point you could, and one did, be crossed with a tank or other armored vehicles. So if we wait to attack North Korea till the fall, we have that to look at. American soldiers have always tried to fight in warmer, rather than colder, climates. Thus, with all this said, I believe that Mr. Trump will order a all out attack, assisted by the ROK forces on land and sea, in the late spring/early summer, depending on the monsoon season rains. The attack will start with a full fledged air attack prior to midnight their time, and the air assault will last for 48 hours or more. At the same time, ground and airborne units will cross the DMZ line in force, lead by minesweeping armored vehicles and tanks with ground Infantry units accompanying them. The western force will head straight to the capital of North Korea and capture/secure it and the surrounding airfields. The eastern force will go along the coastal route north to Wonsan Harbor, capturing it and its airfield. Once these objectives have been taken, negotiations will start with a new North Korean government which will come into being within two weeks of the initial attacks. The US and ROK forces will be supported by many other nations, including Japan, Australia, Great Britain, France, and Canada. Should a North Korean government NOT be formed by the remaining officials not killed in the initial attacks, then the forces will move slowly but surly north to within 50 miles of the Yalu River. Part of the initial attacks will include the destruction of any and all bridges or crossing points of the Yalu River and any other crossing points into North Korea. Quick reaction forces will be held in reserve for any intervention by pro North Korean countries from the north. This forces would be dealt with swiftly and severely with no holds barred! By the full onset of winter, the “war” part will be over, and the re-education of the North Korean people will begin. By the end of a three year period of time, the North Korean people should be able to elect their own government at national and local levels. The country will remain occupied by foreign forces for a period of up to 20 years after the elections are successfully held. Any officials, military and/or government that are found to have committed “crimes against humanity and the North Korean people” should be captured, tried, convicted, and executed by members of the ROK government. The US and all other nations should stay clear of these actions, other than the capture and holding for trial actions.
That was a nice COD mission.
