Is that really much of an industry in Korea anymore? I remember the dog farms from my tour in 1989-90, but I also remember my KATUSA roommates saying only their grandparents ate dog. Those guys (and me) are in our 50s now so I suppose the vast majority of those grandparents are dead. I suppose someone here still in country can correct me…

There was only one dog meat restaurant in my neighborhood up in Uijeongbu, and that one closed the first year I moved in.
I see more dogs being spoiled by their owners than being turned into soup these days. Soon, the last dog meat restaurant will be on KBS as the owner tearfully closes his doors for the last time.
Given the sign in English, I think the protest was for international consumption. 🙄

The trade unions wouldn’t come out for this one.

I see dog meat restaurants every where I go in Korea. Eating dog is still very popular. I was fed the same bs about only old people eating dog back in 1991. But it is 2018 and dog meat restaurants still going strong.
It must have had a resurgence since ’99 as it was nearly gone according to my wife, who lived in Seoul… She never really saw that except when she was young…
