Was the American Revolution A Mistake?

Even on the American Independence Day there are those in the American left that can’t spend at least one day without trashing the country:

This July 4, let’s not mince words: American independence in 1776 was a monumental mistake. We should be mourning the fact that we left the United Kingdom, not cheering it.

Of course, evaluating the wisdom of the American Revolution means dealing with counterfactuals. As any historian would tell you, this is a messy business. We obviously can’t be entirely sure how America would have fared if it had stayed in the British Empire longer, perhaps gaining independence a century or so later, along with Canada.

But I’m reasonably confident a world in which the revolution never happened would be better than the one we live in now, for three main reasons: Slavery would’ve been abolished earlier, American Indians would’ve faced rampant persecution but not the outright ethnic cleansing Andrew Jackson and other American leaders perpetrated, and America would have a parliamentary system of government that makes policymaking easier and lessens the risk of democratic collapse.  [Vox]

You can read the rest at the link, but be warned the article makes some major assumptions to support its thesis.  For example if the British did try to end slavery sooner in the American colonies does anyone think the South would not have revolted?

I’m not sure I’ve anything about US history this bad since my mother taught grade school. I offered him a place in my cousin’s US history class but I fear he isn’t smart enough to handle it.

Days without Vox getting it exactly wrong: 0

The rest of Twitter left their appreciation; and the ratio was devastating.

Nathan burger @NathanWurtzel: Clickbait takes the place of history over at Vox, the website for leftists who need a few talking points in a vain effort to be taken seriously.

Cam Edwards✔ @CamEdwards: Vox trashing the War of Independence is exactly what I would expect of Vox on Independence Day.

Rusty Guinn @WRGuinn: Look, I’m not saying we need to ban avocado toast, but we need to have an honest talk about the increasingly evident side effects.

Shira Rawlinson @ShiraRawlinson: This article claims the British Empire was more humane, monarchs are better and completely dismisses India under British rule. I just literally cannot with this. trump is causing people to lose their damn minds.

Andrew Massoud @AndrewMassoud: Get out of here. “We should be mourning the fact that we left the U.K.” like seriously stop. Get some help. Watch some fireworks and enjoy the freedom that you are completely ungrateful for.

My friend innocently wished everybody a happy 4th on facebook and some uppity bitch went on and on about how the constitution was was a terrible document and only for straight white men… blah blah blah.

She appears to be a black single mother in the military.

So… my irritated friend sent screenshots to me… and I found contact info for her chain of comnand.

…and now I am sitting on it and deciding if “to uphold the constitution” is compatible with her hate for America… or if she should have complete freedom of speech while she sucks up tax dollars… or if having disloyal racist saboteurs in the military should be actively eliminated.

What should I do?

“does anyone think the South would not have revolted?”

You mean the Democrats, not the South, the Democrats.

Democrats (people not the party proper)…
*Started a war based majorly on their opposition to abolish slavery.
*Opposed the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments (voted pretty much the party line on all three too).
*Founded the KKK (3 times).
*Forced Tribal nations onto reservations to buy votes with the stolen land.
*Came up with the Black Codes which later gave way to Jim Crow.
*Anchor themselves to organizations like PP and the SPLC; one founded by a believer in Eugenics, the other is a hate group masquerading as a civil rights group.

Dems can go F themselves.

ChickenHead I would not contact her command.

Anyone can make the mistake of getting ramped up and letting loose on the internet (see post above). You didn’t give much to go on; but bitching about the constitution and playing racial mind-reader aren’t worth the escalation and frankly are covered by her (heh) constitutional rights.

Finking on her personal at-home opinions to her workplace is a lefty move dude. 😛

Heh.

That is why I sat on it and asked the opinions of others.

However… while the left does everything possible to damage people for speech the do not agree with, the right has been pretty reserved.

There is a growing line of thought that it is time to use the left’s ideological tactics against them, not only to watch them forced to eat themselves, but in hopes they might back away from destructive actions and toxic thinking when it starts to destroy them.

“I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same;”

True faith and allegiance. I wonder if she had the fingers on her left hand crossed while the right hand was raised?

She may have a clearance (and possibly more than just secret). Let her upchain decide what to do with her.

How long did it take the Army to drum out that West Pointer who was openly embracing communism?

I doubt they will deal with her any more effectively or expediently than him.

Let her continue on. She may not have had a real history lesson and has just started delving into politics with all her info coming from leftist sources. There may be a chance for her to stumble into an argument with someone who leaves her confused about her beliefs and curious about another way of thinking.

Or more likely she will continue on her path of victimhood status and eventually make a career ending mistake.

Either way, if she is that openly hostile on the zuckerbook, there is a good chance that “the right people” have already been informed, if there are any of them left anyways.

Sorry, setnaffa, I disagree with you on this one.
“What should I do?”
There is no assumption of privacy on Facebook.
I would contact her chain of command…
if only because they might already have stuff on file about her.

Do it CH~! Folks like this get 100% any way. At least she can be on the block with her poison d’attitude, instead of a toxic leadership position infecting underlings. She needs to go for the good of the service!

Who was the chick a few years ago who got an MSM for using military resources and military time to look up people who said mean things about women on their personal time then went to their CoC about it? I realize SHARP has made anything sexual a third rail in the military if you indentify as a male, but attacking the Constitution goes back raising our right hand which a whole lot more important to me than making inappropriate semi-anonymous comments about women in general on the internet. So yeah perhaps her CoC has a need to know in this case.
