Former Korean National Police Agency Chief Summoned Over Online Comments Supporting Former President Lee

This seems like yet another attempt by the Moon administration to deflect attention from their own online opinion rigging scandal:

Police said Tuesday they have summoned former National Police Agency chief Cho Hyun-oh as part of a probe into suspicions that he spearheaded massive cyberoperations for the conservative government of the early 2010s.

Cho was ordered to appear for questioning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday. He served as the commissioner-general from 2010-12.

The 63-year-old is accused of abusing his power and instructing the agency to launch online maneuvers aimed at swaying public opinion in favor of the Lee Myung-bak government and his policies.

The police agency’s cybercommand allegedly had its own officers to write more than 40,000 Internet comments supporting the government. The cyberteam is also accused of ferreting out those who posted any negative comments about the Lee government.  [Yonhap]

It will be interesting to see if the Moon administration is able to get this guy locked up while their own people who did the same thing during the last election go free.

Does anyone know if the common Korean people have any idea of what’s going on in their own country? Are they buying all of Moon’s smoke and mirrors?

Rocketman, many do. However, between the active collusion of a leftist media and repression on any word of truth that does squeeze out it is very difficult. The average citizen has no means resist only hope will soon be the military and commie moon has actively purged the senior ranks and is co-opting the lower ranks with promises of reduced national service….things don’t look good.

Rocketman, the average South Koreans have a severe mistrust of the local media. However, when reports like this are being reported by leftist medias like the JTBC, KBS, MBC and so on, the Koreans will believe those reports.

However there’s a new pattern where the Conservatives under pressure of being silenced, demonized, and ridiculed by the mainstream Korean leftist media have taken to Youtubes to broadcast their own viewpoints which has picked up speed. The left media picking up on this, are now directing their attacks on the Conservative broadcasts in the Youtube, demanding that the government do something to curtail their freedom of speech under the defamation law act, as well as calling the viewers of these broadcasts as old crazy people who are not right in their heads. Their goal here is to use the Korean lemming logic to pound home the fact that young, normal, smart Koreans wouldn’t be foolish enough to believe all these old kooks on Youtube spousing hate speeches and fake news as they put it. What they’re trying to do is to use peer social pressure to mold South Korean youth into what the ideal South Korean youth should think.

Frankly, it’s very frightening what is happening right now in South Korea, and no foreign Western press would even attempt to dig through the surface to see what’s going on, instead of just reporting everything that the mainstream South Korean leftist media is telling them.

Flyingsword and Appeasingnorthkorea, thank you for your insight as to what is really going on in SK. People in the US have no idea how bad things are turning over there. As a US soldier that served in Korea during the early seventies, there will always be a spot in my heart and life for Korea. It saddens me to see what so many fought and died for is turnig out to be for nothing.
