South Korean Supreme Court Rules Against Military Academy Expelling Cadet for Drinking
|This ruling to me goes against good order and discipline in the ROK armed forces. It makes me wonder if a cadet in a US military academy could do the same thing?:
The Supreme Court struck down a decision by a military academy to expel one of its cadets for unauthorized drinking, saying the academy’s code of conduct is too restrictive.
The ruling is expected to lead to sweeping changes in the so-called three bans that the military academies in South Korea have in their codes of conduct for cadets: prohibiting drinking, smoking and marriage.
The cadet, identified by his surname Kim, filed the suit after the Korea Army Academy expelled him in November 2015 for drinking a bottle of soju with friends in November 2014 and several shots of soju during a family dinner in April 2015.

You mean like wearing commie shirts and esposing a violent overthrow of our gummint?
“and marriage”
I remember when I submitted my paperwork for my wife to be added as my dependent my company commander he said “hey you know I don’t remember giving my approval for this, you know USFK mandates you have to get approval before getting married if you’re a blah blah…”
I gave him ye olde “oh… no sir I wasn’t aware, no one said anything and you RSVP’ed months ago, you didn’t say anything then either”.
What I wanted to say: “If you really think that I as an adult in my 30s is going to ask permission of an organization as dog N pony as USFK, an organization that’s turned a fighting force into a welfare program, to get married like I’m some 16 year old idiot that got suckered by some Philippine juicy in the ville you can royally go F yourself because that shit will never happen. Ever. Evvvv…. errrrrr…. Now sign the papers please. :)”
So, every function in Korea?
The only loophole I’ve ever seen was the trick of taking shots of water instead of Soju.
What’s the word up in Area 1? Dry for all personnel? Dry for soldiers? Or Drink Responsibly?
commie moon’s court undermining the military
Next class. Beating subordinates 101. Obvious question is whitch snitch ratted him out?
Might as well start as cadets because the officers sure can put it away.
The United States Military Academy (West Point) did have one case where a cadet who was found to be cheating appealed the honor court’s decision and thus remained at the Academy.
Duty, Honor, Country. Soju, Hojo, in Paju.
Not at all. While cadets of the various ROK service academies are considered active duty members of the ROK Armed Forces, the honor code and various academy rules, including the “three prohibitions” only applies to them — not to the ROK military. Anyone who says the ROKs aren’t allowed to drink when off duty is full of it. They do and they will regardless of whether it is “preapproved and unavoidable.” The extra rules piled onto the cadets are just vestiges of the olden day and are pretty anachronistic, arbitrary and otherwise pure bullshit. The Korean Supreme Court did right by overuling these overzealous and self-righteous petty minders.
Duty, Honor, County. Hoju, Soju, Cheju.
