Picture of the Day: ROK Air Force’s First Tanker Aircraft

Air Force's first tanker arrives in S. Korea

A330 MRTT, a South Korean Air Force first aerial refueling tanker, lands at an Air Force base in Gimhae, about 450km southeast of Seoul, on Nov. 12, 2018. The tanker, built by Airbus Defence and Space, will undergo various tests for about one month before being deployed for its operations. (Yonhap)

Airbus, eh?

Gee, Korea, it sure would be a shame if those nifty cars you make had a 100 percent duty tacked on to help fund unemployment at Boeing.

Just think of how much fuel this tanker could fly into NK on daily runs.

The NK air force will be glad to add it to their new fleet.

The pricetag pleases the banker
and enriches some Airbus wanker.
But since it’s the facts
that it doesn’t have tracks,
are true homonyms loved by Ole Tanker?

They are needed to fly back and forth North and South Korea’s, with crates full of cash.

CH I have mixed feelings on this The Naszis had the bestest Tanks in WW2, But not aircraft. Why the ROK would buy this piece of crap is beyond me.

CH opines about the banker, wanker, and tanker.
Choking the chicken hurts a bit with his chancre.
Don’t give a fuss, drain out the puss, then flag down a bus.
Take a short ride, to the chicken farm side, Turn off the lights with somethin to hide.
Laugh at the bats with rabies, giggle inside over the spread of STD’s.
Don’t be a flubberr, next time wear a rubber!

I might be wrong, but pretty sure the Boeing tankers require boom operators, whereas Airbus doesn’t.

Liz, I don’t trust the Europeans, especially the Germans for quality Military Equipment anymore. The Brits are ok as they are in line with our thinking. But the battlefields in the mid east are littered with destroyed Leopard II tanks. It was the touted “Best tank in the World.” Now we see their turret less hulks devastated by anti-tank missiles. Not so much with the Abrams, even manned by the cowardly crews of Iraq.

I’d definitely rather folks buy American!
I agree about the quality issues (though I didn’t know that about the Abrams versus Leopard II, interesting stuff!).

It’s interesting to look up the range of Korean aircraft and surmise which ones would need extended range. And for what missions…
