Stray Cats Are Taking Over Yongsan Garrison
|There is a cat-astrophic problem at Yongsan Garrison (sorry I couldn’t resist):
The population on this Army post has plunged since the U.S. military moved its headquarters south of Seoul over the summer. But one group is clawing its way up — stray cats.
Stars & Stripes
They can be spotted running upstairs, hiding under cars, prowling around trash cans and even stuck in trees.
Nobody is sure where they all came from. But Command Sgt. Maj. Donald Robertson has a pretty good idea.
“People left their pets behind,” he said at a town hall meeting last month on Yongsan, which has been steadily emptying after U.S. Forces Korea and many other units moved to the newly expanded Camp Humphreys as part of a long-delayed relocation plan.

Then why aren’t dogs running all over post also? CSM’s statement is silly. Use to be a spay/neuter program for the feral cat population but with th pull out from Yongsan that ended so feral cat population going up. CSM should stick to ensuring no one walks on the new Cp Hump grass.

This isn’t anything new. There has always been a bunch of stray cats running around Yongsan.
I guess you could call the problem at cat-tastrophe. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist either).
At least they keep the Rat and Mouse population under control. They are an overall benefit.
This is not the first time some CSM said stupid shit. With all the preferences given to certain demographic groups in promotions to E9, I am sure there are a quite a number who are not the brightest bulb in the box.
JJ, I don’t know about that; but his ribbons appear to be more numerous than Audie Murphy or Chesty Puller. Maybe not the same weight…
The cats will control the cat population.
“a cat-astrophic problem”
“call the problem a cat-tastrophe”
Come on, guys. Those jokes are for pussies.
It’d be nice if someone left CSM Robertson behind. When are we going to stop giving the mic to people over the rank of E7 or O4? AR 0U-STFU needs to be written.
Pay a local exterminator. When I was in Romania we had a stray dog contingent, I wont say problem. The full bird in charge had a hard on for the dogs. So they would pay a hefty sum of money to a local exterminator to capture the dogs. Lo and behold the next day, more strays. the joke was the exterminator was dumping dogs at night. Being Romania I believe it. There was one resilient bitch they couldn’t catch under a building by the DFAC. They snagged her puppies one by one. Even though the standing order was “Don’t feed the strays.” Everyday you would see folks giving her goodies.
“…the town’s hamburger tasted furry for a week…”
I’ve learned far more about Texas than I ever wanted since moving here…
