Korean-American Convicted for Illegal Voting

Via a reader tip comes news that a Korean national with a US Green Card was recently convicted for illegally voting:

A permanent resident in North Carolina will not face prison time after she was illegally allowed to vote during three separate elections.

Hyo Suk George, 70, was charged with illegal voting by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security after she reportedly voted in 2008, 2010 and 2016 in Columbus County. Instead of sentencing George to six months in prison, U.S. District Judge Terrence Boyle fined George $100.
George arrived in the United States from South Korea in 1989. She got a green card in 1995 and has worked in housekeeping and fast food, her federal public defender Sherri Alspaugh said. She registered to vote “next to the senior center” after taking the advice of a town council member, according to the News & Observer.

In his ruling, Boyle also expressed frustration towards the elections board in Whiteville, North Carolina, because it allowed George to register to vote using her green card, Social Security number and driver’s license, the News & Observer reported.
“So they see a green card and say, ‘That’s OK’ because they don’t know what they’re doing,” the judge said. “They ought to be a little smarter than that.”

Newsweek

You can read more at the link, but this makes me wonder how much of this illegal voter registration is going on?

Also it shows the weakness of voter ID laws at polling stations when green card holders are allowed to register and polling stations usually require a driver’s license to vote which green card holders can get.

“That’s OK’ because they don’t know what they’re doing,” the judge said. “They ought to be a little smarter than that.”

They are smarter than that and they know exactly what they are doing…

…as do those who fight voter ID laws and set up voter registration systems designed to avoid knowing citizenship.

Voter fraud is widespread but nobody is looking for it… and when it is unavoidable to notice, it is an “isolated incident” in a system designed to promote a multitude of undetected isolated incidents.

A lot of people need to go to jail over this.

Some would suggest many of them need to be murdered.

The tree of democracy must sometimes be watered with the blood of traitors.

…which gives far better nutrients than the blood of your valuable patriots.

You can quote me on that.

I got no problem with this lady voting. She is here legally and been paying into the Federal Tax system as required for years.
It’s the illegal guys with false documents, free drivers licenses and the only taxes they pay are sales taxes on the stuff they buy. Those are the guys that need to be convicted & deported.
This lady was probably never pushed to get Citizenship, which can be a daunting barrier to foreign workers with poor English skills.

I have some sympathy with that position.

It is interesting the Gobbermint went after her while ignoring whatever the fuck happened in Orange County.

Well I don’t. The price tag for voting clearly says “Free, Citizens Only”.

Citizenship isn’t bought, it’s earned despite what the Demofuks would have you believe. To dismiss her actions simply because she maintains her Visa and pays taxes shows ignorance to what citizenship is. Perhaps you guys have been overseas too long.

JoeC’s a prime example of the D-fukery, labels a clear breakdown in the registration process which likely warrants a closer look into how it happened as a distraction and then points to Reflublican chicanery in effect being a distraction himself. I don’t agree with Tucker Carlson often but he certainly nailed when he said “Whenever a Democrat accuses of something you can be certain they’re doing it themselves.”

Smokes, I have sympathy for that position… but I don’t agree with it.

This is in contrast for something like “Non-citizens Should Vote” which I don’t agree with nor do I have sympathy for.

The law correctly has made the voting cutoff at citizen/non-citizen and that should not be violated.

But I have sympathy that someone who has spent decades in a country legally while supporting themselves, paying income tax, and staying out of trouble might have invested enough into society to deserve a say in guiding it… as there are a lot of “citizens” incapable of that.

The important point might be to make it easier for a long-term legal resident not dependent on government handouts to become a citizen while denying any chance at citizenship and deporting illegal residents.

I know a lot of citizens who shouldn’t vote. I know a lot of greencard holders who might be trusted but still shouldn’t vote.

If I could make the rules I’d go with something like depicted in (ugh) Starship Troopers where there’s a distinction between civilians and citizens. Your born a Civ and need to earn the Cit. I’m willing to entertain that this particular offender probably wasn’t acting maliciously but who doesn’t check up on something like that to ensure they’re not afoul of the law? 😕

The hate for Asians is strong in America. Hundreds of other examples of abuse and they pick out the Korean. Don’t deny the Yellow Peril.

OT, there is a lot of hate these days, not just against Asians. And it’s rather sad….

“The hate for Asians is strong in America.”

I’ve only noticed in that respect that the left has started to oust Asians from minority status not on numbers but based on how they’re bettering themselves and not so much dependent upon social programs.

How dare they achieve!? 🙄
