I read somewhere that Israel, South Africa, and Taiwan had nuclear-capable cruise missiles operational before the USAF (1979? 1980?). The three small nations were wise enough to step away from the brink, cancel deployment, and dispose of the weapons before they ended up totally isolated and treated like Rhodesia/Zimbabwe.
I wish the #NeverTrump crowd could do the same. They’re going full retard on a regular basis now…
