President Trump Tries to Lower Expectations for North Korea’s Denuclearization
|It is looking more and more like not much is going to come out of the Trump-Kim II Summit:
Anchor: U.S. President Donald Trump said sanctions will remain on North Korea and he is not in a rush to remove the regimes’ nuclear arsenal. Instead, ahead of his planned meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Trump tried to highlight what the North can achieve through denuclearization.

“… we think that North Korea and Chairman Kim have a tremendous potential as an economic force, economic power. Their location between South Korea and then Russia and China — right smack in the middle — is phenomenal.”
Speaking during a White House news conference on Friday, the American president addressed a wide range of issues, including the denuclearization of North Korea.

“But we hope we’re going to be very much equally as successful. I’m in no rush for speed. We just don’t want testing. The sanctions, as you know, remain. Everything is remaining.”
Just a day earlier, U.S. State Secretary Mike Pompeo hinted that at the upcoming meeting Washington may be more focused on further easing the military tension on the peninsula rather than immediately lifting sanctions.

What if the REAL plan is to NOT to make NK denuclearize…
…but just to take away their intercontenental delivery systems so they are no longer a threat to MAGA but remain a regional pain in the ass that occupies the attention and resources of China, South Korea, Russia, and Japan.
Let nuclear blackmail and the terror of unexpected regime collapse be their problem.
That would be BETTER than a nuke-free North Korea.
Interesting theory…
Then secretly prop up the North Korean regime on the condition they hassle South Korea, China, Japan, and Russia at every chance and extort favors and resources from them whenever possible.
Even supply them a top-quality thesaurus so they can make better threats against dotards running bellicose gangster regimes and their running dog puppet lackeys.
Some problems just aren’t easy to solve… but they are easy to make into someone else’s problem.
@Chickenhead, I think the Trump administration originally did think they could get the Kim regime to denuclearize with economic incentives to develop their country not realizing that is not what they wanted.
Now I think the realization that they are not going to fully denuclearize has finally set in and instead are focusing on the ICBM issue. Their ICBM program is not fully developed yet and something they are probably willing to trade away in return for dropping sanctions.
I’m not 100% sure that Trump isn’t – as Plan B – promising the entire Popeye Chicken franchise empire to one of johnnies that follows Kim Fatty 3 around…
Of course not much will come out of this “Summit.” Kim Jong Un knows Trump is a wuss who will not order a pre-emptive strike on the DPRK.
