South Korea Announces Crackdown on Illegal Immigrants
|It will be interesting to see how vigorously this crackdown is enforced:
Police and the justice ministry have launched a rare joint crackdown on undocumented foreign workers and their Korean employers.
Korea Times
The crackdown will last for one month during which officials will scrutinize workplaces known for having many illegal foreign workers. Primary targets include construction sites, massage parlors, bars and other night entertainment facilities.
Illegal foreign workers will be subject to deportation and banned from entering Korea for 10 years. Employers caught hiring them will be prosecuted.

I’m curious. Does the ROK require USFK troops pass through immigration? I remember flying commerical from Korea on a copy of my orders and my military ID. I didn’t even know how to apply for a passport in those days. I arrived via a MAC flight at Osan so immigration was handled (I guess) by USFK. With jet lag and culture shock I remember very little of the first week of inprocessing.
Yes. USFK service members pass through immigration. Instead of a passport, what they show is their military identification card and their orders to the ROK.
Hi .. I just wanna ask, where should i report someone who has a expired visa but he’s still living there in korea. Please notice this comment ..
My family flew with me on the same plane, tickets bought from a Korean Tour Agency in Chicago. I had ID Card and family had passports. They gave an initial 90 day tourist visa to my family. Then we went to Uijongbue to get the A3 visa. and all was good to go. I wasn’t command sponsored and didn’t care how many time Army guys told me “You can’t take your family with you.” They still pull that shyt! Can you believe it?
Claire, you might want to take that up with a Korean government official to test the waters… My initial take is yes; but you want to let the Koreans decide without making anyone “lose face” as the saying used to be…
