Korean Man Avoids Mandatory Military Service By Getting Fat

I guess besides people becoming Jehovah’s Witnesses they can now eat their way out of their mandatory military service:

A man accused of putting on weight by eating fried chicken to avoid mandatory military service was acquitted of breaking the law on conscription, Incheon District Court said Sunday.

The 22-year-old college student reportedly underwent a physical examination for military service in August 2016. The test showed that the man, who weighed 106 kilograms and was 169.6 centimeters tall at the time, had Body Mass Index of 36.8.

People with BMI of 33 and higher can be exempted from full-time military service and work as a public service worker.

The prosecutors indicted the man for violating the military service law, arguing that he deliberately gained weight by eating fried chicken and drinking alcohol ahead of the physical exam to avoid the conscription. They also accused the man of stooping when getting his height measured so as to increase his BMI.

Come to America. I’m sure he qualifies for the Space Force.

I wish I was 106kg… I haven’t seen that since 1981… of course, I am taller than the dude; but he’s gonna need to lose that weight quickly or he’ll be over 140kg by the time he’s 35… it gets tougher every year you get older–and he’s in a country where soju and samgyupsal are dietary staples…

Besides, KJU already has all the body doubles he needs…

The picture made me do it: THE very best fried chicken I’ve ever had in the world (and still to this day) was at the flightline chow hall at Kunsan Air Base, ’82-’85.

Made a young airman look forward to going to work, just to go to the chow hall. For all I care, you can skip paying me on Friday, just give me some of that chicken. May have been more addicting than heroin.

Setnafa has a good point. The dude’s ” in a country where soju and samgyupsal are dietary staples”. Maybe the prosecution needs to check if he’s really Korean! After all, look at all the people subsisting on that and still getting drafted into the military.

KOREAN MAN AVOIDS GETTING FAT BY MANDATORY MILITARY SERVICE

Well look at that. It works both ways.

I will be on the lookout for more of those.

McGeehee, there’s a similar place in the food court at the HMart on Blalock in Houston. Maybe not quite as good; but pretty darn close… We musta spent $200 there in 2017… And we live 250 miles north (but we did spend about 4 months in Houston that year)…

It doesn’t get tougher every year. It comes down to choices. I’m 6’0″ and weigh 85 kg now, but weighed 87 kg 20 years ago when I first joined the Army.

“Bovine scatology” is what Gen. Schwartzkoff called it when people told him Saddam Hussein was a master tactician.

Bob is an example of someone who has never been fat, has always been in the habit of exercise, and hasn’t had to lose upwards of 30kg. He should stick to reading the original story before going all Richard Simmons on us…

It gets harder every year after 25 because of two factors:
1. The body remembers how many fat cells it had and regrows them even after liposuction surgery.

2. The metabolism changes and essentially slows down. More exercise may be needed to drain the existing fat cells, while even a brief time off the diet and exercise allows the body to get back where it was.

Bob should read more. And watch out for what happens if he becomes old a d sick and cannot exercise and eat right.

CH, while writing my previous missive, I thought briefly about pointing out that nearly 100 of my graduating class have passed, all of ’em “in better shape” than I; but whether we live or die is in God’s hands. 💡 💡

And again, without trying to be critical, none of my activities with other people seem to involve urination… 🙄
