Well by siding with the norks he did solidify the partnership between the ROK & US, just not in the way most people think….as to being the root of the military then it wasn’t much of a legacy, until after a year in the war, ROKArmy was not trusted by anyone to stay and fight, and maybe even through the entire war…

Doc, part of that mistrust was because a lot of the NCOs expended themselves trying to stop nork tanks with hand-held explosives. Many of the officers were political appointees and not particularly well-trained.

The 24th got a similar reputation.
