2nd Infantry Division Helicopter Accidentally Drops Container onto Korean Building

USFK is lucky this wasn’t worse of an accident. For example if it killed some kids the South Korean leftists could have used it to start 2002 like protests again:

A U.S. military helicopter accidentally dropped a metal container unit being airlifted Monday in South Korea, damaging a building but causing no injuries, officials said.

The container was being carried via sling load by a 2nd Infantry Division helicopter when it fell onto a building in Yongin, just south of Seoul.

“By all accounts, it did cause property damage, but nobody was injured,” said 2nd ID spokesman Lt. Col. Martyn Crighton. “Unit leaders are on the ground, and a thorough investigation has been launched to determine the circumstances and cause of the accident.”

See? This is a good post.. well maybe not for the people involved but no politics. 😎

Guess there needs to be a peninsula-wide safety stand-down and everyone must re-certify in sling-load training. USFK loves posting photos of sling-load training; you can just imagine the “Be All You Can Be” theme song playing while they do it.

You’re right, Smokes!!

Ban assault containers!! Check if the pilot was wearing his reflective belt!!! Release the Kraken24 Hour Curfew!!!!! /s

The fact is that–even in the best of times–a lot of GIs are injured or even killed in training accidents. I’m glad no one was hurt in this incident. We should try to make sure they’re training the way we want them to fight, not worrying about things that don’t impact mission capabilities.

Yes, we may end up with service members who behave badly; but we get that anyway. Counsel, discipline, or discharge those who don’t measure up. Then move on.
