Aviation Tracking Website Shows U-2 Spy Plane Monitoring North Korea

This is nothing new, the U-2 has been monitoring North Korea for decades:

This image, captured from Aircraft Spots, an aviation tracker, shows the movement of a U.S. reconnaissance plane over the Korean Peninsula.

A U.S. reconnaissance plane flew above the Korean Peninsula over the weekend, an aviation tracker said Sunday, in an apparent sign of beefed-up surveillance of North Korea following its recent test-firing of a multiple rocket launcher.

The U.S. Air Force’s U-2S plane was spotted flying at an altitude of around 15,240 meters over the Seoul metropolitan area, northern Gangwon Province and central Chungcheong Province on Saturday, according to Aircraft Spots.

The plane, nicknamed the Dragon Lady, is known to have carried out a surveillance mission over areas surrounding the heavily fortified inter-Korean border with an aim to monitor North Korea’s front-line military activities.

Before the North’s test-firing of what it calls a super-large multiple rocket launcher Thursday, the U.S. military operated several surveillance planes over the peninsula.

Sad thing is the new no fly line restrictions reduce its ability to see into nK and reduces usable information gathering. Commie moon strikes again.

I’m sure we have all we need despite Commie Moon’s obstructionist efforts.

I’m certain we overfly Norkistan airspace much like did over Russia during the Cold War. Even if we don’t, we already know we have satellites that are on station over the peninsula.

Waiiiiit… the U2 broadcasts ADS-B?

I call boooooolshyt.

1. This is SUPER easy to pick up and decode.

2. This is SUPER easy to spoof.

If anybody is interested, I will post a <5 line tutorial anyone with 20 buck to decode can follow… and <20 line tutorial for anyone with <300 bucks who wants to go to jail for spoofing.

Bonus: the same equipment will pick up Iridium pager texts which rely on security through obscurity… in a modern world where nothing is obscure… due to a thousand dollars in radio equipment picking up DC to Daylight and a few hundred dollars in Jetson Nanos classifying and decoding everything… EVERYTHING… it receives.

It is so cute when people in charge of important things don't keep their knowledge or skillsets up to date.

We live in a world where a few thousand dollars gives you your own private 2000s-level NSA listening station.

Is it not glorious?

CH, you mean like the 90% of available “security” cameras with crippleware linux and admin passwords burnt into the firmware and unable to be changed?

Listening to analogue ~800MHz+ cellphones in the mid-late 80s after business hours was so fun… as there was nothing but police talking about cases, drug dealers setting up meets and biitching about product, and lawyers & building contractors talking sweetly to girlfriends and making excuses to wives.

By around 1990 or so, every rich housewife was yapping to her friends about their new washing machine at 17 cents a minute.

You learn just how fuuuuucking dull most people are.

These days. hacking security cameras is equally dull.

Want to watch a baby sleep? Want to watch an empty crib without a sleeping baby? How about somebody making copies? People standing in line for coffee and bread products?

There are likely many interesting things going on in front of unnoticed cameras… but… security through obscurity. There are millions and millions of cameras with pictures of empty hallways and loading docks and storage closets.

There might be one with a gang raape of an underage Thai ladyboy by a group of one-legged Eskimo midgets dressed in fluorescent chicken suits… but good luck finding it before it returns to making sure nobody throws unwanted trash in the alley dumpster.

Even I don’t have the processing power to meaningfully analyze all the video coming in.

So you are probably… probably… safe.

…unless your insecure camera is overlooking a toilet or some other place an interested party is willing to be patient.

Did Epstein kill himself, CH?

I really have led a sheltered life. While I enjoy the Epstein memes, I am completely astounded at CH’s imagination. And yet, I understand Shodan makes it easier to spot the potentially interesting. But that’s a trap, too…

There’s always somebody watching the watchers…

No, we don’t overfly nK and Geosynchronous satellites over nK are about as factual as the epstein killed himself story….just not true.
