U.S. Air Force Loosens Beard Restrictions
|I wonder if all these accommodations has led to any increased recruitment from people of these faiths?:
Airmen will be allowed to wear up to 2-inch beards under a new Air Force guidance that outlines grooming standards for religious accommodations.
The updated grooming policy, published Friday, also allows members of the Sikh faith to wear turbans and Muslim women to wear hijabs.
Airmen must have religious or medical exemptions to grow beards, the policy says.
The guidance for beards grown under a shaving waiver remains unchanged: Such whiskers must not be trimmed to give a sculpted appearance and cannot exceed a quarter-inch in length, the updated policy states.

Of course they did this AFTER my spouse retired.
(I love beards)
After allowing Muslims to have beards and hijabs, in the interests of equality, they are expanding the policy for Jews to allow payots and shtreimels.
African Americans will be permitted to have a bone through their nose and officers who set policy will be allowed to wear clown shoes.
CH: Way back in the 1980s, I was a student at DLI in Monterey. There were two groups of service members with beards then. One was those with the ingrown beard hairs condition (I can’t remember the name of that condition), and the other bearded person on the base was a Sikh in the US Army. The Sikh was a Staff Sergeant. This is not about Muslims, but about inclusion without sacrificing readiness.
Thanks for the suggestion. I fixed it for you.

Apparently “uniform” doesn’t mean “uniform” anymore.
