One Air Force officer stationed in the southeastern city of Daegu tested positive for the new coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the military to 37 on Tuesday, the defense ministry said.

Of the total, 20 were in the Army, 13 in the Air Force, two in the Marine Corps and one each in the Navy and a unit under the direct control of the ministry, according to the defense ministry.

Thirty-two patients are active-duty service members and the remaining five are civilians working for the military, it added.

As a preventive step, around 2,560 service members are quarantined at their bases. Of them, around 280 have either shown symptoms or had direct contact with infected patients, while the remainder recently visited Daegu, North Gyeongsang Province or other virus-hit foreign nations, including China.

Again interested in how many are recovered and how many are still requiring intensive care? As this 37 is since the start of the pandemic.

There are really a lot of unanswered questions here. What USFK personnel were in China and why?

Many USFK personnel go on leave to Communist China, heck MWR sponsors trips to Communist China.

Going to communist countries has always seemed unattractive to me. Obviously, others don’t mind.

Liz, it was massively funny… In fact, it was the best r/l substitution I think I’ve ever seen… It was very bad, though… We should both ask God for forgiveness…

I was curious how many USFK personnel were in China recently. I just watched a video of Gen Abrams giving a brief to Pentagon reporters on 13 Mar. At the 7:00 mark, he stated that on 2 Feb when Korea announced they had 15 confirmed cases, he mandated that any service member who had visited mainland China on or after 19 Jan, to immediately go into a 14-day self quarantine. He then said that our peak we had 77 service members, family members and civilians in self quarantine that had visited China.
