Clinical Study Shows No Koreans Contracted Coronavirus While Using Hydroxychloroquine

It is interesting that the researchers declare their clinical study as inconclusive despite out of 205 test subjects exposed to the coronavirus not contracting it:

A clinical study on a preventive virus treatment using hydroxychloroquine, a controversial drug that has been touted as a possible cure for the novel coronavirus, was inconclusive, according to the Korean researchers.

Researchers from Samsung Medical Center in southern Seoul and Pusan National University Hospital in Busan completed post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) using hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) on 184 patients and 21 health care workers at a long-term care hospital in Busan, where they were exposed to the coronavirus after massive infections were reported there.

Post-exposure prophylaxis refers to any preventive medical treatment started after exposure to a pathogen. HCQ is an anti-malaria drug that recently gained worldwide attention after U.S. President Donald Trump said it could be a cure for Covid-19, although medical experts are divided over the use of the drug, citing side effects.

According to the study, which was published in the International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents, Korean researchers conducted the treatment on people who were at risk of contracting Covid-19, although their baseline polymerase chain reaction tests for the novel coronavirus were negative.

Researchers gave the subjects a daily dose of 400 milligrams of HCQ until the completion of a 14-day quarantine period. During the trial, 32 people reported one or more symptoms, including diarrhea, skin rash and gastrointestinal problems, the study showed.

At the end of 14 days of quarantine, follow-up tests on the study participants were all negative, indicating that those who received the treatment did not develop Covid-19.

Researchers from Samsung Medical Center in southern Seoul and Pusan National University Hospital in Busan: “Must. Save. Lives.”

Also: “Must. Not. Praise. Trump.”

Even though he wasn’t the one who discovered it, merely reported on it…

“Study finds no benefit, higher death rate in patients taking hydroxychloroquine for Covid-19”

Johnhenry, please spend a few minutes looking into the situation before posting fake news.

This was a completely useless “study”.

“A spokeswoman for the Department of Veterans Affairs said that the research findings should not be seen as definitive. “This was not a clinical trial. It is simply an analysis of retrospective data regarding hospitalized patients. The findings should not be viewed as definitive because the analysis doesn’t adjust for patients’ clinical status and showed that hydroxychloroquine alone was provided to VA’s sickest COVID-19 patients, many times as a last resort.”

So the sickest dying patients were given hydroxychloroquine as a last resort… and they died at a higher rate than non-dying patients.

Good job on your science, government. Keep up the amazing work!

Also: it is accepted that it does not work as a last resort and must be given earlier.

This and the Brazil study are being cited to show Trump is wrong. Both have no relationship to an actual study of hydroxychloroquine.

Real studies of hydroxychloroquine suggest it is effective.

Nice try, NeverTrumper. Back to Canada with you.

Since the study wasn’t “double blind” (meaning no one knows until it’s over, including the folks handling the meds and half get identical looking placebos) they have to say it’s inconclusive. I’ve been in double blind studies before, you can look at your lab work and tell if the medication is having an effect, but each bottle had a code number, only the researchers knew which code number was real and which was fake.

Amazing how leftist will let people die instead of using effective treatments just because orange man bad. Then you have the willing sheep who echo fake studies because they believe everything in the leftist media.

The followers of the Orange man is desperate for him to be right.

So is desperation.

If the same Orange man had said Korean ginseng would cure the Coronavirus, then these same sect followers will also tout that as the magic potion.

Jh and beijing man should get a room.

There has been no accurate reporting of deaths from the Wuhan Lung Pox. I know two people who were terminal patients who died with breathing issues due to stage 4 lung cancer, were not tested, and were labeled COVID-19 because the gummint pays more for that. The vast majority of Americans have not been tested. So any numbers are faulty at best, and grossly overstated.

YMMV; but blaming Trump for the equivalent of a bad cold (in 99.44% of cases) doesn’t make sense. Unless you’re paid to troll or you’re mentally-ill.

Please make sure you stay safe at home and don’t allow them to give you that dangerous HCQ+Zinc+Zpak.

Fake news has nothing to do with what I want to hear.

Fake news is claiming a “study” that isn’t a study reached a solid conclusion that cannot be reached.

Trump sure is clever, though.

While everyone is focused on trying to twist reality into showing his suggested treatment is deadly, he quietly shut down immigration and built a lot more wall.

See ya, suuuuckers!

Bonus: If johnhenry isn’t Canadian, he sure self-cucks like one. He is Canadian.

Jh, Canada is in North America and there have been regular articles bemoaning the fact that USAians have “stolen” the label.

What CH is stating and you appear to be missing is that you don’t write like a proud citizen of USA.

It’s okay. If you are an actual “American”, you’re free to hold and express any opinion you wish. 1st Amendment.

Carry on.

If many people (we still don’t have reliable numbers) get mild to no symptoms and recover without any medical care, it would be near impossible to tell how much a medicine that is best given early to decreases the viral load and reduce symptoms has done more than the natural course of that person’s immune system.

What good is the study if they were already quarantined?

The latest study on “HCQ is bad!” was retracted by The Lancet.
