Both MacArthur and Clark had spotty command records in WW2. Both mad serious blunders in Korea as well.
Not saying I could have filled their shoes for 10 minutes. Just saying we didn’t supply UNC with the best and the brightest (except possibly Ridgway). And there may be wiser souls than me who can confirm with concrete examples of who might have been the best choice in ’52. I would have leaned more toward someone who led his troops better in WW2. Maybe Courtney Hodges, Lucius D. Clay, Maxwell Taylor, or ???
