AAFES Plans to Phase Out Anthony’s Pizza Brand
|According to the article the 13 Anthony’s Pizza outlets operating in the Asia-Pacific region are the last one’s overseas in operation. They will also eventually be closed to be changed for a name brand food offering:
A familiar, if not universally popular, fast-food staple at U.S. military bases worldwide is ending its long run in Europe and possibly worldwide.
Anthony’s Pizza at Ramstein will soon turn off its ovens after more than 30 years of dishing out thick-crust pizza for troops and their families.
The Exchange-brand pizzeria inside the base mall is scheduled to close May 1, said Army and Air Force Exchange Service officials.
It’s the last one remaining in Europe. Two locations at Spangdahlem Air Base and Kleber Kaserne closed last year as AAFES looks to phase out the product worldwide, said Loyd Brumfield, an AAFES spokesman in Dallas.

Really? The demise of Anthony’s Pizza brings no comments? Millennials are too damned entitled to eat plain old Anthony’s. They need corporate giants like Pizza Hut and Shakey’s to satisfy their lustful cravings. I remember when Anthony’s opened at Yongsan in the 80s. The line was a mile long almost and mostly consisted of Koreans. Those thick-crusted, gooey with cheese, and dripping with oil pizzas from Anthony’s got me through some rough times.
For an AAFES-branded food, it wasn’t terrible and because they got their ingredients from stateside, you always got good pepperoni, not the bland stuff you find on a lot of today’s pies. The stringy mozzarella cheese always dripping from the slices was also a great thing. Farewell Anthony’s! The World’s Greatest (eh) Pizza.
I was never blessed to eat any of their pizza; but all the Koreans I know that worked on base said they liked it. Tastes change. I hope they find another classic with which to replace it.
Our boys loved Anthony’s pizza. I am very sad to see it go.
Anthony’s — better than Pizza Hut for sure.
Now on Camp Humphreys (and possibly elsewhere in the ROK) they have Hunt Bros. pizza in the Shopettes (I believe they now call them, “Exchange Express”). It’s basically gas station pizza, also not as good as Anthony’s.
“better than Pizza Hut for sure”
Pizza is like sèx.
When it’s good, it’s great.
When it’s bad, it’s still kinda good.
Except for Pizza Hut which is kinda the sèx with your mom of pizza.
Some of our daughters friends cried hearing this…
I’ll miss it in Area IV. Hate going to Carroll for Pizza Hut and don’t like anything on the economy.
its Poor management that has ended Anthony’s. Even the tacobell in fort belvoir got axed. When I didn’t think it was possible to mess up americas “number 1” Mexican fast food they did so.. very well too.
The newest Pizza restaurant on base is Paulie’s Pizza. Its really delicious! Only negative I’ve heard about was that some people have complained about the prices being too high. A large 18″ NY Supreme or Meat Lovers pizza costs $37.
Da fuq outta here.. $37 for a large pie?!
LIMERICK
The prices are shockingly high.
Their pizza I will never buy.
Not one penny more
than three point one four
will I pay for a pizza pi.
@smokes Yeah really lol. I hope the higher prices are paying the workers a living wage and not just minimum wage. But, maybe the wait staff get larger tips bc of the more expensive bill.

Andy’s thinking is in the right place but he clearly doesn’t understand neofeudalism.
Andy clearly doesn’t understand neofeudalism.
Is the WordPress blocking the word nèofèudàlism?
@Chickenhead, I see the word neofuedalism with no issues.
Ah. For some reason, it didn’t refresh my screen after the comment(s). They just vanished. However they did show up after a manual refresh.
With all the social media shadow censoring, I can believe there are just some words we should be allowed to discuss more easily than I can believe my browser didn’t refresh.
We live in strange times.
Wow I miss these pizzas. When I got out the military I wish I could be able to get some bacon cheeseburger oizza
