China Threatens Bangladesh Over Any Coordination with “The Quad”
|The Chinese had made their viewpoint known to Bangladesh on any dialogue with “The Quad”:
A U.S. State Department spokesman rebutted a Chinese diplomat’s warning for countries to stay away from the U.S.-led regional forum, Quad, on Tuesday, saying the Quad is an informal but essential mechanism to promote a free and open Indo-Pacific.
Ned Price made the remark after the Chinese ambassador in Bangladesh, Li Jing, said in a statement that the South Asian country should not join the Quad or its relations with China will “substantially be damaged.”
“We have taken note of that statement from the PRC ambassador to Bangladesh. What we would say is that we respect Bangladesh’s sovereignty and we respect Bangladesh’s rights to make foreign policy decisions for itself,” the department spokesman said in a press briefing.

Those filthy Chinese are poisoning our relationship with Bangladesh and luring them out of our mutually supportive alliance?
They will rob our factory farms of corporate welfare when it comes time to give relief aid after the next cyclone season. They will cause an oversupply in diarrhea and mosquito-borne disease medicine that takes profit from the mouths of Big Pharmaceutical. We will have to choose between hating an enemy or fearing the rising seas of global warming that certainly will wipe Bangladesh from the map in the snowless world of 15 months-from-now tipping point.
No, China, we beg. Do not do this to us. Do not steal our precious Bangladesh.
Given what little I know of the former “East Pakistan,” from folks who fled to Texas, The few surviving Bangladeshi would likely end up making Disney films and Nike shoes after China put them all into Uighur-style “community centers.”
A Chinese takeover would resemble what Pol Pot did for Cambodian overpopulation.
On both sides.
This move by China might actually serve to make that poor nation friendly to the US, if not for China Joe.
The Russians stand to gain the Bangladesh treasures: a wheelbarrow and a donkey.
It’s worth noting that Bangladesh has an arguably more formidable Navy than Iran. (including an Ulsan-class frigate and several Chamsuri-class patrol boats, to show the Korean connection).
And China might consider not irritating them in order to avoid having China-bound tankers seized for “safety inspections.”
Not everyone in South Asia is a friend of the people in Beijing who put Muslims in concentration camps…
