Is it Time for a US Forces Taiwan?
That is what think tankers are advocating for:
If the Army is serious about countering the Chinese military in the Pacific, it needs to permanently stationan Armored Brigade Combat Team on Taiwan, according to some think tankers.
That type of basing decision would likely abandon the current policy of strategic ambiguity toward Taiwan, which intentionally leaves it unclear as to whether Americans would defend the island in a cross-strait conflict. Uncertain about their superpower backers, Taiwanese leaders are less likely to unilaterally declare independence and China is less inclined to hurry to war.

How many do we need to protect the whole world?
Maybe if we had 20 CVNs, 600 ships total, 150 Active BCTs, 250 Strategic Bombers, 2500 F-22/35 or better, 20,000 combat UAVs, and a President who looked like he knew how to defend America.
I’m reasonably certain that we should be willing to either go to an all-out nuclear war to defend a country or not put troops there. Otherwise, we’ll just end up killing people needlessly.
No more Vietnams. No more Afghanistans. No more Iraqs.

My dad was stationed in Taiwan, taught their pilots to fly for a few years.
