Happy Thanksgiving, Warriors! Thanksgiving 1990, Camp Howze in the HHC 3d Bde mess hall, the best one in 2ID. We were honored that award was presented by BG Bob Foley. There were about 40,000 US troops then in Korea, but BG Foley was the only one who wore the Medal of Honor. pic.twitter.com/CMp6PtnDy5
The best fried chicken I’ve ever had in my life was at the flight-line chow hall at Kunsan AB ’82-’84. Still, to this day, it beats all the novelty fried chicken places that are all over Seoul. What I wouldn’t give for one of those box-nasty’s* again (*Set knows the term).

It’s true about the boxed meals being somewhat less than “three Michelin stars” quality… They were still sending out soy-burgers to aircrews in the late 70s (at least at Griffiss AFB)…
After the very tasty food I was “forced” to enjoy last week (got roped into five big meals, gonna be on a sincere diet this week), I don’t much miss the “AF Chow”; but there was a civilian place just outside Wurtsmith AFB that had super breakfasts……
So good they de-activated 3rd BDE 2ID about a year and a half later.
