I don’t know if I mentioned it here yet, but the airports and planes are getting very grumpy. Mask mandates extended through March now (and probably indefinitely). A pilot decked a (male) flight attendant recently because he would not let up on the “put the mask over your nose” in the hotel, van, restaurant…and then bar.
A while back a flight attendant was attacked by a passenger. The other flight attendants who witnessed it said she very much had it coming.

More good news from SWA: My spouse asked about the mask policy to the chief pilot at a meeting because some of the flight attendants are very militant. One on his plane threatened to make the plane return to the gate, also told the passengers they will be on a no fly list for life if they don’t comply. The pilots had no real guidance on this. Now they do. The official policy is to make one announcement and if a passenger doesn’t comply the flight attendant can discretely talk to them one time. That is all.

One trade-off is the risk of short-term side-effects, from arm pain to a couple weeks of heart inflammation to the (reportedly) rare death.
Another trade-off is not knowing if the heart inflammation causes long-term damage. Vaccine maker(s) purchasing companies focused on heart medication is not a comforting sign. (Neither is Trust the Science that we will show you in 55 years).
And yet another trade-off is the theoretical and unknown long-term side effects of a completely new technology. Treatment by hacking mRNA could be the next big thing in bespoke medicine. It also could be Nine out of Ten Scientists Say Radium Drops are Good for Baby.
Since the risk of death in my demographic is ZERO… real zero, not statistical zero… but my risk of short-term death with the vaccine is non-zero and long-term risk is unknown, the perfectly reasonable thing to do is avoid it until it is properly tested. This is generally done on the high risk where the benefits of protection against covid is greater than possible side effects.

A pilot decked a (male) flight attendant recently because he would not let up on the “put the mask over your nose” in the hotel, van, restaurant…and then bar.
A while back a flight attendant was attacked by a passenger. The other flight attendants who witnessed it said she very much had it coming.

Rumors of adverse effects are just rumors. Safety is a priority and they are clearly safe. If they weren’t safe, the government wouldn’t highly recommend them.
And, as you can see, countries with a high vaccination rate have no covid and no need for lockdowns or any other restrictions. Two Shots and Back to Normal is a testament to their effectiveness.

In my demographic, eating food is literally more dangerous than catching covid. Crossing the street is MUCH more dangerous.
It appears the covid vaccine will reduce the severity of symptoms if (when?) I catch it. I can live with a bad cold but that is good to know.
One trade-off is the risk of short-term side-effects, from arm pain to a couple weeks of heart inflammation to the (reportedly) rare death.
Another trade-off is not knowing if the heart inflammation causes long-term damage. Vaccine maker(s) purchasing companies focused on heart medication is not a comforting sign. (Neither is Trust the Science that we will show you in 55 years).
And yet another trade-off is the theoretical and unknown long-term side effects of a completely new technology. Treatment by hacking mRNA could be the next big thing in bespoke medicine. It also could be Nine out of Ten Scientists Say Radium Drops are Good for Baby.
Since the risk of death in my demographic is ZERO… real zero, not statistical zero… but my risk of short-term death with the vaccine is non-zero and long-term risk is unknown, the perfectly reasonable thing to do is avoid it until it is properly tested. This is generally done on the high risk where the benefits of protection against covid is greater than possible side effects.
However we have a lot of volunteer lab rats begging for new technology to be tested on them… mostly the same people that hyperventilate over GMO corn but seem to be OK with GMO self.
