President Yoon Says that Media Published Untrue Reports About Off Mic Comment
|President Yoon says that reports of him using a cuss word to describe the U.S. Congress is untrue:
President Yoon Suk-yeol said Monday that untrue media reports of his remarks caught on hot mic damaged South Korea’s alliance with the United States in his first response to the controversy.
Last week, Yoon was caught on video making a remark privately to aides in New York that appeared to include vulgar words. Though the recording was not clear due to noise, many thought Yoon was talking about U.S. Congress and U.S. President Joe Biden.
But Yoon’s office rejected the claim, saying he was referring to South Korea’s opposition-controlled National Assembly without mentioning U.S. Congress or Biden. Yoon’s ruling People Power Party also claimed people misheard Yoon’s remarks because the video had a subtitle misrepresenting them.
“Damaging the alliance with untrue media reports would be putting people in danger,” Yoon told reporters, adding that how such incorrect reports have circulated should be clearly verified.

You can read more at the link, but I guess the Korean National Assembly is the expletives that Yoon was referring to, so everyone should feel better about his remarks?
Not surprising. Mass media lies all the time.
How do we know the current Korean President, his aides, and his party aren’t lying?
President Yoon, take my advice and learn the lessons of President Roh.
Don’t become a petty President fighting petty battles over petty issues with petty people looking to drag you into pettiness.
Rise above it.
Ignore it.
Or…
“By all means, let me get you idiots a box of tissues so you and the idiots in the Korean national assembly and the idiots in the American congress can all cry together about being idiots.”
On a side note, I didn’t pay attention to this non-issue but, and please correct me if I am wrong, the scandal appears to have these two elements:
1. Yoon called the American congress the national assembly.
2. Yoon called them “idiots”. (Though a very quick scan of the news indicates that might be a poor translation because most news didn’t give the actual word).
Yoon’s position is that:
1. He was talking about the Korean national assembly.
2. So this has nothing to do with international diplomacy.
I have no idea of the truth, nor do I care, but it is pretty easy to believe the media is making stuff up.
Target: “I like ladies.”
Media: “He offensively called gay men as ladies even while admitting he liked gay men.”
All I know is I want:
– no covid stupidity
– less interference from government
– better parking
I will support a baby-eating Nazi if they give me these kinds of things instead of the opposite.
